Brick Arcade will probably not impress "Serious Gamers" (an oxymoron?), but for those of us who are old enough to remember being amazed by "Pong" and knocked out by "Space Invaders", this is a fine version of an old friend.

There are sixteen levels of play with three degrees of difficulty in each level. The paddle is controlled by the right and left side "next page" buttons (Kindle Keyboard), or the five way controller. There are lots of extra goodies on the screen (special bricks, treasure chests, bombs etc.) so you can use strategy to get higher scores.

Because Kindle is basically a reading machine and not a gaming computer, the action does slow down a little now and then, and there is a very slight "lag time" between pressing the button and the paddle moving, but since judging the bounce angles and thinking ahead are pretty much the whole point of the game, this just adds to the challenge.

For one (or two) dollars, you can't beat it.

I found that the type of Kindle you use can make a big difference in how this game performs. This is just my personal experience, but I have a lot of trouble controlling the paddle on the Touch because it is hard to keep my fingers over the little controls reliably. So I tried the game on my Kindle Keyboard which has the better page-turning controls. The ball barely moves on that platform, and there is no way I have enough patience to play it on that super sluggish platform. That leaves my $79 Kindle, and the game plays great on that platform! The ball moves fairly smoothly (with some pauses now and then, but not too intolerable), and best of all, the side controls work great with the little paddle. So I would not run this game on a Kindle Keyboard or, because of my sloppy fingers, the Touch. But on the "standard" Kindle it works well enough that I love playing it on that often.

Your experience may vary, but that has been my personal experience. I love the game and all the levels it offers, it never gets old for me. But of course I have not done the most difficult types on all the levels, so that is something to work toward.

I found that disabling wireless on the Kindle while playing the game seems to help it run smoother, based on the idea that wireless uses a lot of resources when it checks the Amazon servers periodically for new stuff, and that might cause a longer pause in the game while it is doing that. Just a thought.

People need to know that it may not run fast enough on their particular Kindle and to be aware of that before they buy it. Unlike games like cards and casino-type games, real-time action is essential with this game, and if it's lacking, the game is a lot less fun to play. My experience with this game on the $79 Kindle has been great, however, which was a bit surprising to me! Not all all on the Keyboard, and less so on the Touch due to difficulty in paddle control for me.

Great dynamic experience for your Kindle. The goal is to remove all black blocks by ball by bouncing it with paddle.

What I like:
1. Very good gameplay - works great on Kindle touch.
2. There are three difficulty levels - normal, hard and expert.
3. Nice graphic and well designed UI.
4. Good instructions.
5. Hi-scores - track your results.

What I would like to see improved:
1. Sometimes app freezes a little on Kindle Touch during play.
2. App does not remember my last played game - I can't continue playing after have closed and launched app again.

Note: you can play app on Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX and Kindle (2nd Generation) devices.

In overall - there are not much dynamic games on Kindle, this is good one.

It's about time that Amazon takes it back, and I mean WAY back! This is basically a new school version of the original "Wall Breaker" game...if you own a Kindle/Kindle Keyboard, you simply use the 5-way to move or you can use the Next/Prev page buttons. I personally think that this is the best game on the Kindle I hope that you enjoyed this.

Pros

+Pretty good graphics
+You can save High Scores
+It's cheap and affordable
+Has plenty of bonuses
+You can choose the difficulty

Cons

-Game tends to freeze up at times and causes me to lose a ball

Other than that one con, this is a pretty good game, hope you enjoy!

This is a nice game for the waiting room when there are too many noisy children for reading a book. Exercises the brain which is a good thing, but it isn't so hard that one gets frustrated.

I bought a kindle touch for books, but when I saw the sale on games I couldn't resist. I couldn't believe that this kind of a game would even be possible on an e-ink display, but it turns out it is. The controls are fluid on the touch, and I would imagine they would be better on a device with buttons. Word of warning though, there is no audio, and using the mp3 player cause some minor lag and hiccups that made the game 10 more frustrating and difficult to play.

This version of the classic game is a pleasant way to pass the time while commuting to work on the train/bus or if you are just bored and looking to fill some idle time. It works quite well on this platform. My only complaint is that the game often freezes for a second or two, sometimes causing me to miss a shot that I otherwise would certainly have made. Overall, I like the game and find it challenging enough to keep me interested.
