Somewhat poppier than their previous album, Bricks Are Heavy still features the abrasive guitar riffs and punk inflections that gained L7 their following. "Pretend We're Dead" was the major hit from this album, and is the most commercial song of the lot; songs like "Wargasm", "Everglade", and "Slide" are aggressive, roaring rockers. While "Diet Pill" and "This Ain't Pleasure" emphasize the group's feminist slant, this takes a backseat to their music, which is the main reason to pick up this album. L7 isn't women who play rock and roll; it's a rock and roll band that happens to be made up of women. --Genevieve Williams

Album cover was / is in perfect shape. The Vinyl is a bit warped but not so it affect's play. The warp is long not short so no bumpy roads here just up and down. It is a floppy vinyl so no 180 g here and I've seen some floppy's floppies listed as 180 g (a Madonna album is in play on that) smh What else can I say.. Sh**list has never sounded so good. Even if Juliette lewis once got on stage hopping mad , but that would be totally her to do so. :) I like Pretend We're Dead , but 2 songs SH88list and Warga** are flip off songs so more often than not when a company makes my sh**list I think this song, likely were I came up with the name. And I'm sure it's been around alot longer than this song. And they have fun even now on stage. Never hear much about Cycle sl*** From Hell. And L7 supposedly from Madison WI originally. How much of that is true I don't know but as far as this album is concerned that name comes up often. Some of it was recorded there. We tended to visit Madison still at that time as a family. I actually wouldn't be surprised if I bought it there because there was this cd / vinyl store not far from UW-Madison that sold fun albums :) I got the cd then. I don't think they had a Vinyl til 2014 but I could be very wrong. Enjoy it. put your head through a wall and have fun :)

L7, along with the likes of Bikini Kill, Babes In Toyland, Luna Chicks have been battering away at their guitars and rambling into mic's about the life of your average everyday riot grrl for a good few years with only a few of us finely tuned individuals paying much attention.
Bricks Are Heavy is a worthwhile album to have in your collection, "Shitlist" is a fantastic hard hitting song (also from the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack) which really captures the mood you need for sum grrly rock. This album does however have a few really weak areas in songs such as "One More Thing" and "No Integrity". You get the feeling L7 had all the balls but not much originality when it came to their music so you can get the feeling the album as a whole musically isnt as developed as it could be. I would suggests for beginners to to the scene to listen to Bikini Kill's "Pussy Whipped" or Babes In Toyland's "To Mother" before investing in this album because the joy is found more in the message than the musical content here and we wouldn't want to put you off!
