This novella was a lovely way to pass the afternoon. It is a mixture of Plane, Trains, and Automobiles and When Harry Met Sally but this Harry and Sally don't wait 20 years to get together.

This is a sweet fun romance that is a little madcap and a lot charming. The heroine is a great with a self-deprecating sense of humor and the hero knows a good thing when he sees it.

I would have liked it better if the ending was more developed and I would have liked a bit more of an epilogue as well but all in all fun stuff.

I was given this book for my honest review. So there you have it.

I recieved The Bridesmaid as an ARC for an honest review, which did not sway my thoughts of this book whatsoever. I would give this book a 4.5. The first few chapters started off a little sluggish for me, but once Kate and Joe got off the plane in Dallas things picked up and I absolutely fell in love with both characters and their story.

They start off heading to Seattle for completely different reasons - Kate to visit home for a wedding and Joe to relocate for his dream job. Their lives converge on the plane as they embark on a journey, both physical and emotional, as they try to beat the odds that seem to be stacked against them by the travel gods to make it to Seattle on time. I loved how Joe was almost immediately so open with himself about how he felt about Kate. And, I adored Kate's wacky personality. I won't spoil the ending but I will say it was great! I would have enjoyed an epilogue though to see where the future led them. Hopefully, since this is a novella there is a sequel in the works that will clue us in.

Kate Preston is on her way back to her family home in Seattle to attend her cousin's wedding. She hasn't lived in New York very long, but she loves it there. Her new job as assistant editor is her dream job. So her trip to Seattle will be a quick week-end get away.
Joe Firretti is from New York and is headed to Seattle for his dream job. He had gone out the night before to attend a "Congratulations!! going away party" his friends threw for him and is now battling a hangover. The new job is truly a wonderful opportunity for him doing what he loves to do and making a great salary.
Kate and Joe end up sitting next to each other in the plane. Joe sleeps and Kate eats some peanuts and all is well....until the captain gets on the intercom and explains that they must make an unscheduled landing. There is a huge blizzard in the middle of the country and all air transportation seems to be getting re-routed.
This is a well written, fun, and romantic novella. It brought to mind "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" but with a romance thrown in. The characters were great and I loved Kate's family. The ending was the icing on the cake. A good read!!

I have flown and I have had delays and missed connections, but this story was a riot! I smiled and chuckled all the way through it. A very good story of meeting your "special someone" on the plane, in the seat next to you. Something we know only happens in books, movies, and dreams.

I definitely recommend reading this. It keeps moving and is a good afternoon's read.

A cute short story with lots of mishaps and laughter. The cast of characters in the book are reminiscent of friends and family we all have in our lives....crazy. What starts out as a simple trip home for Kate to be the maid of honor at her cousin Lisa's wedding turns into a comical misadventure.

Ms. London takes two strangers, Kate and Joe, both in New York, both headed for Seattle for entirely different but equally important reasons. Kate has to be there in time for her cousin's wedding. Joe has to be there on a certain date to meet his new boss for his "chance of a life time job". Throw in a blizzard across the midsection of the country and a pending air traffic controller strike and you end up with something from "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". Both Kate and Joe begin to wonder if fate has a hand in their meeting. A humorous, light, quick read.

The Bridesmaid is one of the best novella's I have read in a very long time. Usually, short stories tend to be rushed and forced leaving me with "what and how the hell did that all happen?" thought. Not this one. I could totally relate to this fast paced happily ever after. I fell in love with my own husband only after meeting him 3 days before.

Joe and Kate have places to be across the country. When these two meet up amid flight cancellations, strikes and storms, they team up and make a go at getting through it together. Being in such close contact with one another gets their senses on full alert and the inevitable happens.

I loved their sense of humor and quick wit with one another and the way it was used to make things happen in their situation. Joe is an IT manly man and Kate an editor for women's fiction; strong and independent in her own right. No whining and carrying on for this lady. These characters had me feeling good about the story from the get go. As these two learn, Fate exists and when it does, you take the opportunity it presents and roll with it...
