"We've heard tales of Orpheus + Eurydice, Romeo + Juliet, Heathcliff + Catherine, and now we have Ridge Cross + Camila Bell. K.K. Allen has written what has to be one of the Top Books of 2020! A gripping journey of love, hope, and loss. Ridge and Camila are also one of my favorite couples. They are two souls who are bound together no matter the distance and time." Book(b)ish
"An absolutely delightful and beautifully written story based on Romeo and Juliet. K.K. Allen has given us the most wonderful star-crossed lovers from feuding families story. Camila and Ridge’s star-crossed lovers story is an EPIC one and one that spans decades. I must have gone through every damn emotion in this story. The chemistry and tension between them was everything and more. I lived for with each and every interaction between these two. I couldn’t get enough of the suspense and anguish of their relationship, along with the mystery of the past interwoven within. I was completely bewitched and felt their love deep in my heart. It was truly magical.
If there is one book to read this year, it’s most certainly this one. It has absolutely everything — romance, suspense, injustice, emotional highs and lows, and the most perfect storyline. K.K. Allen stole my breath time and time again with this book and has gone straight to the top of my favorite of hers. No question about it, one of my favorite books of 2020! K.K. Allen has truly outdone herself this time and there is no doubt in my mind that this extraordinary book deserves ALL THE STARS.
Star-crossed lovėrs Camila Bell and Ridge Cross have everything working against them. Their families have been in a Hatfield/McCoy style feųd for generations, and Camila intends to change that. She and Rıdge have plans and dreams of ending the feud and their two families living peacefully and working together.
But fate and destiny seem to have other ideas, with a little help from a nefarìous character or two. The first half of the book takes place while the young couple is in high school, up until Camila goes away to college. And before she leaves, Rıdge leaves her ruìned, wrecked, and devastated.
Ten years later, after education and training to take over her father's vineyard, Camila is back, and a lot has changed. Her father has dìed and his right-hand man has taken over the vineyard, giving jobs to both his daughter and son. A son that he anticipates Camila will marry and eventually run the vineyard business with. Except there is clearly unfinished business between Camila and Rıdge.
I really think this book should have been broken up into a duet or the first part shortened. A lot happened, but I found myself skimming so I could finally get to the soul of the story with Camila and Rıdge, which makes it fall just short of a five-star read for me. I hate to say anything crıtıcal at all, because their story is intense and compelling, even other-worldly beautiful. My heart ached for them and I traveled all the ups and downs, the twìsts and turns, right alongside them. This gifted lady then proceeds to add in an element of suspense, and I couldn’t teąr my eyes away during the second half. I was dyìng to have all the questions answered and see these two finally get their forever after!
So take my nit-picking comment with a grain of salt, because Camila and Rıdge are one of those epic romances we all dream of, and guaranteed to leave you with a huge happy sigh. You'll be drawn into their world and feel every emotion they do, because this isn’t simply a read. It's an experience that involves your heart and captures your soul, and you absolutely won’t want to miss it!
Overall, I swear Allen’s writing just gets that much more amazing. This book is akin to The Waterfall Effect to me in some aspects when it comes to the intrigue and suspense of it all. It blew my mind in so many ways. I lived for the connection between Camila and Ridge and so much more. If you read one book this year, this one needs to be read. I am just amazed!
