I absolutely loved "The Bridge Club". It made me enormously grateful for the friends that I have, and for the things I've experienced and places I've been to. Great writing, great story and for certain one you'll want to share with your own friends! - Olivera Baumgartner-Jackson for Reader Views (3/11)
Based loosely on her own bridge club, Sands weaves the reader through a maze of life's inevitable scenarios. The Bridge Club is a 1000 GIRLFRIENDS' BOOK OF CHOICE. We highly recommend this remarkable story of friendship. It's the PERFECT book club choice.
Eight chapters recount issues many women aged 20 to 60 face, but there's an interesting twist that demands attention and makes this book more -- much, much more -- than a run-of-the-mill novel.
Patricia Sands is also a powerful advocate on behalf of Canada; her love for the country shines throughout the book.

"This was an incredible read. I was so wrapped up in the lives of these women, I felt myself "grow" along with them. The ups and downs and challenges they went through is something I believe many would relate to. Bravo, Patricia Sands! Highly recommended!" Diana M. - Amazon Reviewer
From the Author
The aftermath of writing my debut novel has been an incredible journey. The very best things are the e-mail comments and reviews I receive from readers ... nothing better than hearing your words have touched someone or that they relate to the characters. That's why we write!

I love when I arrive to the end of a book and I am still hungry for more. But what I love the most is when I finish a great book, and all I can think about is... Ti-Ming.
That's the best!
Any woman who has a lifelong, well connected friendship will love this book. The book introduces you to eight different women and takes you through the points in their life when they most needed the friendship of the bridge club. Each character has their own chapter to explain what they were going through and how they felt at that time. The first and last chapters explain to you why we're revisiting the women of the club.
The last chapters threw me for a curve-ball. I couldn't figure out which of the eight women it was talking about, who was going through the problem that had led them where they were to suffer through what could be the hardest thing a friend could suffer through. I think the author did this to show us, the readers, that it can happen to anyone, you won't know who.
This book was very well written. It was long enough (at approx 400pgs) for you to connect with and know each character. This is a thought provoking book that anyone who has a deep friendship will adore. Good luck to the author, Patricia Sands! I was not paid for this review. All the opinions expressed here are my own and were in no way swayed. Thank you for taking the time to read! -Melissa
Chapters explore a moment in time for each of the friends and as I read, I was struck by the similarities of the women and their situations with my own friends and experiences. Tears, smiles and outright laughs ebbed and flowed with every scene.
I highly recommend The Bridge Club, as well as, Patricia's Promise of Provence series.
It goes without saying that many things will happen over a 40-year friendship, but it was just too much of a stretch to believe that every one of these women would undergo their own 'trendy' topic.
The chapters dragged on and I found myself skipping over big sections - especially when I caught on to the fact that each woman was going to neatly wrap up her own issue like a pretty little package with a nice bright bow.
It was a bit hard to accept the unusual caring extended by the ladies. Wouldn't it be wonderful.
