It is pretty well constructed as a kids toy. My kids are old enough to get that you can't endlessly whack away with plastic things or they'll break, if a kid is liable to do this I imagine that it would break. But it is decent plastic and will take some rough handling. (My kids broke the cheap costume quality Aragorn sword I got them, but they did not break this one. So it can stand up to playing.)
I like the sword a lot. It is small enough to hold comfortably and not be disturbing.
It is light enough not to tire your arm out after a while.
I love that you can make it light up with the click of a button.
However, I don't like the constant sword noises it makes everytime you move it and there's no way to turn that off while still being able to turn the light on. It is a children's toy so that's more of a personal thing.
My 6 year old cousin loves it and that's the point so I'll be giving it to her when I'm done with it.
Overall, this sword is good for what I needed it for and I would definitely recommend it for children and, of course, hobbit cosplays.
