I have watched the biography about the real
Bridge over the river Kwai, and this movie
is not very accurate, but what Hollywood
movie is. That being said it has an all star
cast, basically a who's who in Hollywood
from the 50s and 60s. Its not accurate but
it still has good entertainment value, if you
enjoy old war movies you might want to add
this to your collection.

While not as grand as 'Lawrence of Arabia' in its depiction, it is definitely among David Lean's best movies. Lean takes enough time developing the characters and plot, and presents a very satisfying movie with (what's most amazing to me in most of Lean's movies) a grand climax achieved with precision but without the use of CGI.

Fictional movies are created to amuse and distract ordinary people from the doldrums of their daily lives and they sometimes deviate from plausible reality to achieve that purpose.

I enjoyed this work despite the controversy around the film's historical inaccuracies. I thought the plot of the story, the appealing cinematography of the geographic region and the performances of Alec Guinness, William Holden, Sessue Hayakawa and others presented credible entertainment. I recommend the movie to all

A great movie to watch with your husband. Loved the photography that so wonderfully displayed the beauty of the area. Acting was superb, but for me the ending was disturbing.

The acting, filming is spectacular.
Malcolm Arnold composed music seemed to have been in variations dating back to1955 (the night my number came up).. The lion 1962 is another.

I have always loved this film, one of the real David Lean classics. But I thought the film had an Intermission. It has an abrupt shift a little more than halfway in. I am surprised by this because this is a restored version. Again it might be a bad batch or the low pricem but it lost a star because of this.

David Lean's (Director) hands are all over this war Picture coming from "Lawrence of Arabia" 7 Oscar win. Really thought out dialogue, builds this feature and you are there every step of the way through Alec Guinness unwavering personality; and the frustration he causes Colonel Saito (Sessue Hayakawa), who informs them that all prisoners, regardless of rank, are to work on the Bridge. Recommended.
