We find ourselves at the same point we left off in 'episode' five. That's rare, usually time has elapsed and things have progressed and you don't know how they got to this point. But Mr. Smith has made the transition seamless.
Naturally, the colonists are in trouble as soon as they 'land' on the beach. They find it hard to get out of trouble, but manage. These situations are totally believable, people do react the was this colony has.
There are no editorial issues that make it difficult to flow naturally. The dialog might be a LITTLE verbose, but Mr. Smith nails it. Each situation flows smoothly from one to the next. Characters are fleshed out enough to understand "where they're coming from". Though too short for my liking (I want more in this world) it ends the series in a comfortable and believable manner.
Thank you, Mr. Smith for writing this series.
My only dissatisfaction is, after the final book, the reader is left with an unfinished knowledge, of if ,the new world is going to actually survive.
Stan's physical description of the "aliens" is magnificent. When this series becomes a Netflix binge-a-thon I would love to be present when the computer graphics team creates those aliens!
The story is expertly crafted and the mental pictures are splendid. The scenes Stan creates are completely enthralling. There are a few authors who have the enviable ability to paint a photographically detailed panorama using only words. That is why I avoid seeing movies of books I most enjoy. I don't want my mental pictures ruined.
The story neatly ties together all the ropes, lines, strings and even threads that were woven through Bridgers 1 through 5. If you haven't yet enjoyed the first 5 books try to read them in order if you can. It is well worth it and you will surely enjoy the journey.
Let's all hope Stan sees fit to bring Desmond and Infinity back as "elder statesmen"!
As usual, congratulations Stan on another work of literary art. You may count Lonnie D Robertson among your most fervent supporters!

A wonderful and emotive end to a fabulous series. It is an amazingly inventive, complex, and compelling story and one of the best reads I’ve encountered. It has been a fulfilling, heart breaking, dangerous, thought provoking, tension and action filled adventurous trip. A fantastic and realistic world building, with excellent characters. The quality of its intelligence, imagination, and prose raises Bridgers to the level of inspiring stories. Stan C. Smith has the ability and creativity to capture my mind and heart, to the point of being extremely drawn to a fantastic world of amazing creatures, and a profound knowledge of human sociology. An absolute gem! I’m going to miss it!
“I aspire to inspire before I expire.
Bide within the law I must, in untainted family trust.”
