Andrea’s great aunt Nanette Bartell has called all the absent family members back to the ranch to share some upsetting health and financial news. Due to recent drought conditions, the ranch is threatened with foreclosure having lost money for the past three years; it is now barely operating in the red. Nanna as she is affectionately known by the family members recently had a mild heart attack and has been instructed by her doctor to take it easy and stop trying to help work the ranch. All the family members are equally surprised and they all agree to stay for a while and help make the ranch profitable again.
Noah Courtland, a lifelong and very loyal friend of the Bartell’s is the reason Andrea left Bridleton so suddenly five years ago. Andrea’s grandfather Bartell hired Noah to manage the ranch at a young age. Noah and Andrea were lovers before she rushed away from the ranch in a fit of rage. Andrea thought Noah was at the heart of the circumstances surrounding the death of her close older sister Caroline and her unborn child. It is only after returning five years later that she hears information that clears Noah’s name in this terrible incident.
Because Andrea severely burned her bridges while ending her relationship with Noah, she is unsure if she can began building new paths into his heart again now that she has become tired of life in the fast lane as a runway supermodel, returned home and wants to stay at her lovely and expansive family estate Bartell’s Bridleton.
This is a charming western romance read. Warning: there is graphic premarital sexual content liberally sprinkled throughout the pages of this exciting, erotic western tale.
If you removed the utterly predictable scenes from the plot, you'd have nothing left.
If you removed the lifeless, one-dimensional characters from the story, you wouldn't miss them since it's impossible to care what happens to them.
Poor writing can be acceptable if the plot is original and imaginative.
Predictable plots are acceptable if the writing sparkles and/or the characters fascinate.
One dimensional characters are problematic in the romance genre, especially, but can be forgiven if the writing is otherwise witty or engaging and the plot is highly original.
Unfortunately, this book has nothing going for it as the writing is bad, the editing poor, the plotline so unimaginative it actually hurts to read, and the characters so dull I'd rather go wash the dishes than read their dialogues!
