Worthwhile in terms of its brief exposition on the controversial title subject,

this text may be of more enduring value in its extensive appendices, which treat at length and in detail some of the processes and "theologians" who took such extraordinary liberties with the letter of the Vatican II documents, substituting, instead, their supposed "spirit of Vatican II," interpretation.

De Lubac, always willing to fight for the truth, names names, and describes in detail the tactics used to so "tilt" the positive intentions of the majority of Council Fathers, Pope John XXIII, and Pope Paul VI.

A great read, revelatory, and sometimes startling in its frank, fact-driven combativeness,

it's a perfect companion volume to Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI's, "Theological Highlights of Vatican II."

As Fr. Fessio has said, de Lubac is truly a man for the Church and of the Church!

His insights are illuminating for understanding the relationship of nature and grace. For de Lubac, it is essential to hold a paradoxical interpretation of this relationship -- which is wonderfully laid out in this small book.
