This book has a sacred space on my desk, right next to my dictionary. (Yes, I'm one of those old-fashioned types that still likes to use an actual paper dictionary.) I use it to look up rules that I've forgotten about em-dashes, en-dashes, commas, semi-colons, quotation marks and more.
Whether you are in high school, college, graduate school, or out of school but just want to have a handy guide for learning how to write better, this little handbook will help you in more ways than one. I buy it for anyone who tells me that they really want to improve their writing. Last but not least, the used version of this book costs next to nothing which is really amazing for such a useful book (I like the regular bound version, not the spiral-bound one).
I bought it for a composition course, and even though I sold all the rest of the books needed for school, I kept this one. It is well worth the price for this great guide. I have never before seen so much useful information so nicely compacted. I love the two sections: commonly confused words and frequently misspelled words.
I use this book as a reference at least once a week.
