Ok for the average person, but not for the serius rider.

I'm not trying to throw a wrench into all the great reviews of this light, but it really does depend on the level of bike rider you are as to what the quality of this light is. This light is bright and the battery is fine. With the diffuser lens it does have a great light pattern on the ground in front of you. Now for the not so great... The mounting for the light to your handle bars is way, way sub par, and the radius is made exclusively for a one inch handle bar. If you have a higher end bike where the bars are thicker in the middle by the stem this system does not work at all. My bars, like most higher end bikes are one and a quarter inch in the middle where you would normally mount this light, and the cushioning material is in the center of the radius. So if you have larger bars this light is going to scratch them if it moves, and it will. It is attached with an O-ring used as a rubber band instead of a clamp mount that almost every other light out there uses, including a fifteen dollar Bell light at Walmart, so when you hit bumps in the road the light keeps moving down. When I ride I take it pretty seriously, and the last thing I want to think about is constantly re-adjusting my light so I can see down the road in front of me. I just constantly found myself saying in my head "This F#@%ing light!" as I was re-positioning where the beam was pointed. The straps for my battery broke off within the first two weeks of using it, that didn't make me very happy either. If you are a casual rider, or just ride back and fourth to the train station for your commute this light is fine. If you are a more serious rider however, this is a fifty dollar light. You would be much better off spending the extra money on a Cygolight, NiteRider, Blackburn, or the likes. At least they have a positive mounting system and the light never moves until YOU move it. The quality of the light and battery themselves are actually pretty good, but (and I really wanted to like this light) the mounting was actually pretty terrible. If they made the mounting for the light and the battery better they could charge me a hundred dollars and I would pay it with a smile on my face, and I am dead serious about that.

Not as bright as I had hoped, and many design flaws

This light is not much brighter than my previous light, which easily attached to my handlebar and didn't require a big battery pack strapped to my seattube. This light has several major design flaws that make it not at all worth purchasing. I literally have no idea how this light gets good reviews.

1. The light connects to a heavy battery pack that must be strapped to your bike. This adds about a pound of weight to your ride.

2. The light doesn't swivel, so unless you can somehow attach it at the exact center of your handlebars (not possible on my bike), it will shine off to one side or the other.

3. The light moves around quite a lot if it's positioned on top of your handlebars, so you need to strap it upside down.

4. The screw that attaches the light itself to the base of the light (which connects to your handlebars) is very cheap. There's only one screw, and when it becomes loose (it was already loose when I received the light, and would not tighten) the light will not remain attached to the base (the light is strapped to the handlebars via the base, so the light must be secured well to the base, and it is not). I had to superglue the base to the light.

5. The battery pack straps are too long, and so the amount of velcro on the strap that actually contacts the velcro on the battery pack (when you wrap the straps around your seattube) is very very minimal (less that 1/2 inch). I had to strap the battery pack on with zip ties until I can get a better velcro strap.

6. The light comes with a rear flasher (red), but it's basically invisible from the side, and it requires an uncommon battery, so it's really inferior to most rear lights available today.

7. The light also comes with a strap for conversion to a headlamp, but who would want to carry this heavy light and battery pack on their head? There are plenty of much better headlamps out there, so this is basically useless.

I really needed a light immediately, so I did the best I could to make this one work. But bottom line, this light isn't even close to worth it. Avoid!

I've put 120 miles on my road bike after work this week with this light and I am very impressed! Out on the road I seem to be more visible to cars and because of how bright the lamp is, those making lefts in front of me or pulling out of side streets are waiting. The light is bright enough I might be perceived as a motorcycle at first. When cars approach from behind the flood of light in front of my bike increases visibility from there as well; I'm consistently getting cars that hold back and provide wide separation while passing. Out on the bike trails near my home, visibility with the 800 lumen setting is about 100 feet of the trail, 1200 takes that out to at least 150 feet if not more. With either setting I can roll along at 20-22 mph without catching up to the light...just awesome! Lastly I find the mounting of the lamp just fine and in fact allows easy adjustment of the light up and down to either throw light further or beam down for oncoming cyclists etc. The picture with my review is the 1200 lumen setting on a local bike trail in total darkness. The picture was taken without the included diffuser.

I have this light mounted on my E-mountain bike, it was easy to install, and in the short time I have had it installed it seems to work great. It is winter where I am, and dark by 17:30 so it was a very welcome addition to my bike. It seems to be a very solid piece and well made, I have not been able to test it's water proofing but I am sure it will hold just fine. I did experience an issue with shipping but the seller was able to get it sorted and made things right.
