This is a decent swing. It gives us a place to put the baby when we need to get some things done around the house. My 5-month-old daughter enjoys sitting in it and she likes to reach up at the toys in the mobile. We like to keep it in the kitchen, so the baby can sit and play while we eat or cook. The swing plays nice music and I like that it sways side to side. My daughter seems to prefer that over the swinging back and forth.
The swing does have its pros and cons. The biggest problem was the assembly. It was somewhat difficult, with some pieces not lining up. I had to force some pieces together. But, once it was put together, we've been pretty pleased with it.
One thing to keep in mind is this swing is huge! It has a very large footprint. So, if you have a small space, then this swing may not be for you. It's almost too big for our kitchen and often someone trips over its legs.
* Swings back and forth and sways side to side
* Includes an AC adapter, so you save on batteries (big plus!)
* Baby can face three different directions
* Plays nice music and nature sounds
* Lower price point than similar swings
* Swing motor is quiet
* Difficult to put together
* Large footprint
* Not as soft or plush as other similar swings
* Stationary mobile with hard toys
Overall, the swing works well. If you couldn't afford anything more expensive, this swing would be fine to get.
The chair actually tilts sideways and the baby crumbles to one side or the other depending on which way the seat is facing.
I gave this 2 stars because I think it has the potential to be a great swing with a few tweaks from the manufacturer. Also, the customer service line is awful. Left a message to get replacement parts. They returned my call 9 days later. But I had already contacted amazon for a return.
I do like that the swing can be plugged in and by pass having to use alkaline batteries.
If i had to do it again I would spend the extra money to get a higher quality swing, but with this being our last baby it only has to last another 10 months or so.
Overall I really love this swing. Comfortably padded, and sturdy base my now four month old loves it. ALthough she only will stay in it for about 20 minutes at a time. That's just her personality. The music is nice, the speaker is wonderful with volume control, and it even features water and nature noises. The swing automatically turns off after so long, as does the music. Another nice feature.
I love the fact that you can make this either plug in or battery operated. We typically dont move ours, but when we had to we didn't have to worry about an outlet.
My biggest and probably only complaint is the harness. I don't feel like it adequately extends. After struggling with it for sometime, we gave up on using the top two straps. Even with just using the bottom straps our kiddo is still perfectly secure in there.
I do say this overall is a great buy for the money.
We just had a little girl and we were looking for a full size swing that was affordable, durable and most importantly plugged in so we could save money on batteries. Bright Starts has created the Bright Starts Up, Up & Away Sway & Swing that is gender neutral, battery/plug in operated adorable swing that even swings in different directions. With our first daughter we had a battery operated swing and we spent more on batteries than we actually did on the swing. Batteries are so expensive compared to the little electricity this swing uses. I am very pleased that i am able to plug it in and not worry about batteries running out on me. The next feature i really like is that is can be it can swing in different directions such as back and forth and side to side. It also has several different swinging speeds and the swing can be put on a timer. Finally the best feature of all the seat cover comes of to be washed! Some swings dont allow this and it is such a pain to have to sit and wash a seat cover that has been spit up on and not be able to take it off. Just throw this one in the wash and your good to go!
We have used the swing for two weeks now and we couldn’t be any happier. I love it! It soothes are baby for those nights she is having trouble sleeping and its so easy to use. The print is gender neutral so its a great swing for both girls and boys. AND its very affordable compared to competitors swings with this many features at only $99!
