This is easily the worst booster chair design I have EVER come across. It's not the chair itself, it's the lap belt. You have to loop one leg through the harness, only to have to affix the belt together on one side of the child's lap. You can't just place the chil in the seat, and then affix the belt together. I am taking it back today, and cannot get over the poor quality.

As a consumer of a number of various products made by this brand, I made a basic assumption when I bought this chair. My assumption being that the chair would actually FUNCTION as intended & for it's advertised purpose. It's pretty basic stuff, really. The concept of a booster seat with straps that are made to secure a child has been around for a long time. It's not like Bright Stars invented the idea and piloted the 1st booster seat product ever. All I expected was to have a booster seat that 1) would halfway sufficiently attach to a regular chair & 2) that it would allow me to securely seat my child in it. This product is a massive FAIL at the most basic level. The straps are a joke. Did they take into account the size of a child's leg when deciding how long to make the straps & how they should adjust (what 65lb kid needing a booster seat could EVER get their leg through???? My 25 lb 15 month old cannot)? The only child who could fit into this chair strapped in would be a newborn - 4 month old. Newsflash: a child that age cannot sit up on their own...never mind the fact that they have no reason to sit at a table since they have no teeth & are not yet eating solid food or feeding themselves. The fact that this product ever made it through both design approval & quality control is completely beyond me. A monkey could've designed & manufactured a better booster chair. These chairs should be recalled. If I were given the option to give this negative stars, I absolutely would. Not only is the product not useable in any way, shape, or form, but because of the manufacturer's incompetence, I now get to waste more of my time just to try to get my money back. Actually, it's not worth the gas or the time. I will never spend money on a Bright Stars product again.Read more ›

We just moved from using a highchair to this booster. Luckily we just got this from a second hand store. It would hardly be worth buying new even at the cheap retail price. Seems like the DimWits at Bright Starts put it into production without ever testing it(?)

Instead of having a central buckle mechanism (like in a carseat), the buckle is looped through the center and cinches on one side. This makes placing your child in the seat extremely awkward as you must first seat them, then lift up their left leg and thread it through the hole, then buckle on the way right hand side (WHAT?!). Or seat child first and be forced to unthread and rethread the buckle each use. Who has time for that? Also the way the straps come out of the seat, it barely holds the child in place. Our kid can lean completely forward making the seat+belt useless. Additionally, the empty spaces under the handles along with the textured bumps make cleaning a nightmare and baby fingers occasionally get caught under there.

It will have to do until our new OXO seat (A brand I can trust for thoughtful design) arrives. [We decided to forego the seatbelt and armrests having seen our kid in action in this booster seat]

This product is described as going going up to 65 lbs, yet my 30 lb 2 year can not get into the harness. The straps could have easily been designed to be adjustable to a larger size but since they are not, this product is completely useless. Avoid if you plan on using past 1 year.

After pricing out replacement straps for my other booster seat, I decided it would be better to purchase this model. Sadly, I did not look closely at the strap design. There is no way I am going to slip my two year old through a strap. Have you ever tried to bathe a cat? Getting a wiggly two year old into a booster seat with this kind of strap design is similar. I think bathing the cat might be easier. Overall this was a very poor design, not well thought out and probably made by someone who have never had kids.

At first I was excited to see a nice looking booster seat at such an affordable price ($11.50). However, when I tried to attach the seat to my kitchen chair my excitement soon wore off. First of all, the instructions are ridiculous and offer no guidance whatsoever. Secondly, there is no way to keep the straps tight after you install it on your chair. Finally, the child's harness is an absolute joke! I was unable to fit a 25 lb. child in that thing, and there is no way that a 65 lb. child could ever fit in it. I am not one to have a temper, but after 15 minutes of fooling with this worthless thing I was about ready to throw it across the room. Don't waste your money on this product. And I not only will I be returning it to the store, but I will refrain from purchasing any Bright Starts products in the future.

I bought this at Target today because I was in a cheap mood. Let me tell you- it's worth the extra money to get a seat with a buckling system you can trust. First, the lap belt is ridiculous, requiring you to put your child's leg in a loop on one side. That might not seem like a big deal; try it out and see how it goes for you. Second, the strap system that secures the seat to the chair is completely unsafe. I'm shocked Bright Starts hasn't been sued over this yet and had to recall the seat. It's impossible to tighten the straps and keep them tight. If my 30 pound 2-year-old squirmed even a little, he'd have slid the seat off the side of the chair and knocked the whole set up to the ground. And third, the lap belt that came with my seat is horribly frayed. Great quality control, Bright Starts.

It should be obvious that I'm returning this immediately.
