After four kids, I decided to replace my current high chair with a space saver seat. One of the things that bothers me the most on my current highchair is the ridiculous food catching crevices under the seat pad, so ease of thoroughly cleaning the seat was pretty much my top priority. This one definitely hits the mark. Under the pad are three slots for the straps, and two small notches on either side where the seat snaps into the armrest assembly, and one odd shallow little dimple in the center of the seat. Not perfect, but a test wipe showed the worst collection point to be the side snaps. The rest is smooth molded plastic. The pad and straps remove easily, however the seat pad alone doesn't. The clips for the crotch strap don't fit through the slots on the pad, so you have to remove the straps from the seat and then remove them from the pad. I can live with that. The armrest area and the height adjusting handles look like they're going to be the worst grime collection points. The back of the seat is very easy to remove to convert to a booster, and the two piece pad means the booster is still padded, unlike some of the other seats on the market. The seat strapped very securely to my padded seat dining chairs, so I'm happy with the sturdiness and stability overall.
I found the height adjustment to be really tight. I had a very hard time adjusting the height to see if there was a setting that made it fit better at my table (there wasn't). Could be the newness of the seat; I don't see me bothering to adjust the height for number four or the upcoming baby, so it's also something I can live with. Also, the recline doesn't work well with my chairs. I can probably gerry rig something to move the base forward on my seats and give me room for reclining. I'm not sure I'll bother. The biggest drawback for me is that the armrests are molded and aren't removable. They prevent the seat from fitting under my table even in the booster configuration, which kind of defeats the purpose of a space saver highchair, and puts a toddler so far from the table that he's bound to dribble on his lap instead of on the table.
Overall, if I were only using this for the current baby (12mo), I'd return it and buy a regular booster. Considering another baby using it, I'll probably keep it because our current highchair is shot and this was a much cheaper alternative to a decent full sized highchair.
Edited to add: seat doesn't sit up straight enough for an older self feeding infant. Tray insert only catches at the back and is too easy to pop out of place. Downgraded to two stars. Will probably return and live with our old seat until I find a better option for the new baby.
I am going to gush about this seat! I haven't been so pleased with a product in quite awhile. I am a Mother of three Young and Energetic children. Where was this seat with the first two?!?! My first child I bought an Evenflo wooden high chair that was supposed to last. My first one was hard on his seat though and it didn't make it past the culling when it moved. For the second I think we purchased another Evenflo high chair , this time a plastic one, a regular one. Almost as soon as I got it into the house I began loathing it's Big plasticky Tackiness. Not so with this Delightful Booster! I literally just set it Up and my Eighteen Month old son ( who is HUGE by the way ) and I can't stop fiddling with it He climbing in and out while the Other kids bask in the Glory of a purchase Well Picked!!! It isn't often a retail purchase makes me feel so good. It might not be for everyone because everyone's taste is not just the same. We are going to be happy with this for the Day. It will probably make me smile each Time I glance on it from now until babe outgrows it!
We bought this because have a high table. I love how you can adjust the size. Padding colors are light, so washing on a regular basis is needed I do not use the blue removable tray, it is easily removed by a 10mo Trays fir in the dish washer, but take up a lot of space. Padding is thin Buckles are good and semi easy to use Stays firmly in place
This is an awesome little chair that takes the place of a free standing, larger, more cumbersome high chair. It tilts, fits an average sized chair nicely and the straps hold it there very securely. The pattern is cute, nice colors. The tray comes off easily and can be washed in the dishwasher. I got this for my 7 month old niece and her mom loves it.
I love that the cover does come off and is machine washable. That is a huge live saver. It fits on and straps to most standard dining chairs. Very convenient. The best part is that it grows with my son, so he will be able to use it as a booster seat as well. :)
I love this chair! It work well with my dining chairs. However, the seat fabric is in two pieces and the bottom part slides all over the place when I put my daughter in and take her out and it's a pain in the butt! If the fabric was attached to the plastic this would be a perfect chair.
The back part keeps popping off WAY too easily. We had to tape it in place. Otherwise, it's really cute, washes easy, fits baby nice, etc. I just don't understand why the top needs to pop off and if it does why can't they make it snap into place in a sturdier way?
Would give this 5 stars if I could verify the clips are PVC free, but I presume they are not. That should be a requirement for high chairs since babies go right for those clips to put them in their mouths. Functionally great. Easy to clean and wash. Easy to set up.
