There’s pretty much nothing I can say about the story without spoiling the first book, so this is going to be vague, but OMG, this book was everything I was hoping for. The continuation of Charlotte and Porter’s story picks up from that heart-stopping moment where the first book left off, and drags us straight back into the heartwrenching chaos of their lives. My heart broke over and over but there are moment of lightness that make it all worth it, and it’s all so real! I could understand and empathise with the characters, and I could feel everything that they were going through. I cried with them, laughed with them and loved with them, and I relished in it all. And in the midst of all of the emotional turmoil, there are sweet moments that absolutely melted my heart and made me fall even harder in love with these characters.
The strength of these characters is matched by their huge hearts, and that is evidenced over and over again. They have a tumultuous road ahead of them, but their faith in each other, and in the feelings that they have for each other outweighs everything, and I loved watching them finally escape the darkness and find their light.
This is a quick read, but it lacks for absolutely nothing and I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down. A wonderful duet, and one of my favourites from Aly.
This was a unique situation and I couldn't imagine going through something like this. Charlotte was a survivor and dealing with Brady it was very big of her I would have probably killed him a long time ago; I was actually even wishing for his death, because the hate was so strong at one point. I also loved all the secondary characters that were in the story, especially Porter's family. I think I'm going to try to read more of this author's work. I'm happy that I was able to go on the ride, it was definitely emotional one, but it was very well written and very engaging and just overall an interesting concept. I loved it five stars!
I highly recommend you reading the first book. You will love it and it's a fast read only because you won't want to put it down.
I know you will enjoy this book as much as I did!!
However, I nearly threw my kindle across the room and quit this book at the 84% mark. The intensity of that hospital scene sent chills over my entire body like I was right there in the room.
These characters were so amazing and well developed. So real. The final scene was so epic and perfect, that I'm still sitting here with a dopey grin on my face.
