The promotional literature shows clear images taken through the peephole video system. What we got was anything but.
First, the installation was easy - remove the existing peephole, replace with the one included using the mounting plate. The camera snaps on and you're ready to go.
When I turned it on I thought I must have installed it wrong - the image was extremely washed out and it only showed the top less than half of what you can see through the optical peephole directly. You could see only the very top of the head of anyone standing outside the door. Not only did it not enhance the view it blocked the visitor completely!
Multiple uninstall /re-installs later I was sure the directions were followed correctly. I then looked at the recorded images. Surprisingly those pictures show the whole view just as you see it when the unit is not installed. The image was not nearly as washed out but the resolution was marginal. Our entry walk area has a roof so it is brighter beyond. I tried night images with the overhead porch lights on to check for back lighting issues. The screen image was still very overexposed.
We sent pictures to customer service and their response was:

The motion sensor is opposite my door on a large overhead beam. It has a 15 foot range from the peephole viewer. So far, after a few days use, it's worked well. It comes with industrial strength 3M double sided tape or you can screw it onto something. I used the 3M tape because I have had good experiences with it on other items (GoPro Surf). The power button on the viewer makes no noise at all like some reviewers have said. With the motion sensor, there is no need to press the power button unless I want to review pics because it comes on automatically when something moves in front of my door.
The exposure is perfect, but my front door has an overhang providing shading and direct sunlight never hits it.
The hardest part of this entire installation was setting up the date and time on the viewer. Now I'll just wait to see what it catches :-)

It works good. Mine has to show person thru a storm door window. Problem is in winter storm door window steams or frosts over but not camera's fault. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Wwtp
