Great bottle, but grows mold super easily!!

I have tried about every different kind of water bottle on the market. This one has by far been my absolute favorite; however, despite weekly cleaning, there is mold growing in the mouthpiece after only 3 months of use and I cannot clean it out due to the design of the mouthpiece. Extremely disappointed I have to throw it away after only get a few months of use out of the bottle.

this one works so well for me, I saw reviews presenting with a few problems. Here is what I did to make it work.
I rinse the filer very well and clean the black filter inside and outside with my straw brushes.
Detergent was used to clean both caps and bottles
put parts together, and I filled it with water, I sip out some water and spit it out. the first few sips, It tasted so funny! after a few sips, it became acceptable. there is no odd smell. it does not taste as good as bottled water you buy from store, but this is a good choice when you are going to some places that there is no filtered water. I am working in this office for 6 weeks, they do not provide water to employees and costumers and I have to stay there at least 8 hours a day, and I need to drink 2 liter of water per day. if I buy water every day, the cost is more than this bottle. now I have this one, I can bring it out with me to mall, to anywhere, and when there is tapwater, I do not have to keep buying bottled water, save money, save the enviroment and looks so f cute. yes, its cuteeee! and i love it. no, it does not need much force to suck the water out, at all!

CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE WATER YOU ARE DRINKING FROM THE STRAW ISN’T GREY!
Since, unlike the Brita pitchers, you cannot see the water that has been filtered you may be drinking grey/ carbon water!!!
I followed the directions exactly & decided with my first two drinks from the straw, to spit the water into a glass cup to make sure the water was clear from the filter! The water is NOT clear but grey/ cloudy from the carbon of the filter! I will be returning this bottle, but if you keep one please check the water you drink from the straw!!

I love this water bottle! Filters out any hint of chlorine taste. I purchased this specifically for a Disney trip as the bottled water there is expensive. So I view this purchase as an investment which helps with overall savings. The only thing that could make this product better would be some type of insulation, or a double-wall. It doesn't keep the water cold. It simply filters well. Also, leaks from the top when tipped or held upside down. I know you're not supposed to tip it anyway as it's designed to be used like a straw. However, the first several times I went to take a drink, I tipped the bottle out of habit, which caused it to leak on me. The suction on the drinking part is a bit difficult, but not super hard. Overall I think this is a good product if you're going to be refilling a lot. It was worth the investment up front.

Unfortunately the filter was broken when I opened the bag.

Update: I contacted amazon to send me a new filter for the bottle and they were kind enough to send me a new bottle. I have been using this bottle for over a week now and I love it. It does it’s purpose and I don’t taste the “charcoal taste” that some have been experienced.

How does one actually drink water out of this?

This struck me as a neat concept and got great ratings, but due to the filter associated with Brita (which honestly was the selling point) I wasn't able to actually drink water from it. I was getting slow trickling water the entire time I was trying to drink out of it, which is a bit of a mockery. I didn't have an hour to wait for every refill to drink out of it, so it's gone back to the Amazon warehouse. I won't rule out defect, but it does seem very Brita to not be able to drink the water for a period of time which defies the whole purpose of a water bottle. I guess I was hoping for that process to be faster and fell flat.

Carbon Particles in Silicone Straw (Cleaned for 15 Seconds)

Received this today and have been using it all day... I followed the instructions and rinsed the carbon filter for 15 seconds (as per the instructions). Lo and behold, I found carbon particles inside my silicone straw stuck to the sides as you can see in my picture. I can't imagine how much of these particles I have consumed today.

Compared to other 1 star reviewers, no I did not have any issues drinking from it. The initial slurp is harder than consequent ones, but definitely is not "difficult" as some people say.

The silicone straw has a weird smell / taste. I'm not sure if it goes away because I've already decided to package this up and send it back.

It doesn't seem completely leak proof. The bottle isn't meant to be turned upside down for you to drink. I think that's what a lot of people don't understand about this bottle... It is meant to be drank right side up like if you are drinking a bottle using a straw. The people that complained about water coming out the sides of the straw probably tried drinking it upside down.

Hairline crack appeared the day after I bought it. Cheap plastic even though its bpo free.
I'm not sure if it's working I used it to filter tap water at work, and my britta jug filter at home tastes way better.
Edit: after less than a weeks use and the part that holds it closed broke. It wont close anymore am going to return.
