This might be piling on, but we have an obligation to the community: this pitcher is junk. The lid will not stay on. Never mind trying to pour with it, just carrying it to the refrigerator without the lid falling off is a challenge. It should go without saying that Brita should be able to filter water. That's what the company does. The water is great. It will save us a bunch of money. It's the right thing to do for the environment. But come on, Brita. You're based in Oakland, CA. Get some of those smart people from Cal or Stanford to work on your design or QA or something. Manufacturing somewhere that you lost track of?

Made a video to show what I mean.

Well, the water's terrific -- but no matter how many times we try to asemble, reassemble and figure out the architecture of the pitcher, the thing leaks when you pour -- and leaks a lot. So it's essentially useless. I wonder what rocket scientist designed such a device. Maybe they can get a job at NASA.

The lid will fit if you line up the long groove in the filter with the handle of the pitcher as there is a long ridge inside the filter receptacle. If you do this the filter will sit lower and presto the lid fits!!!

This Brita pitcher leaves much to be desired. I never write these reviews, but just had to for this one. Yes, the filtration system leaves the water tasting great, BUT....

1. It leaks a little.

2. There is often a little bit of charcoal residue in the bottom of the pitcher AFTER soaking for 15 minutes and rinsing any visible residue off and fitting into the space very securely.

3. I hate the spout.!!! About a quarter of the time I go to pour myself a glass of water, the spout stays shut and water goes all over the counter or floor in front of the fridge, or wherever I am pouring water into something.

I wont' be buying this brand again.

The lid WILL NOT stay on. I hate this thing with a passion. The top part is too small to hold all of the water the pitcher might actually hold. See, I'm so mad I can't even make a sentence!! Do not buy this.

I contacted Brita about the lid falling off when you try to pour water. To my amazement they responded that the lid is designed to not latch or be held on. WOW Apparently it is designed to fall off.

The person who did the video review has it spot on, the lid simply doesn't stay on. There is too little of a lip along the edge of the lid for it to seat into the top of the pitcher. This results in the lid flying straight off if you tip it to pour water or if simply place it into your fridge.

I have owned Brita pitchers in the past and never had this problem. This model seems to be particularly cheaply made. Even the flap (both at the spout and on the top where you put the water in) are simply snapped on and are always falling off needing to be snapped back into place. I'm surprised Brita even went to market with this - it's really a horrible experience.

Also the way the handle is molded water will spill through the inside of the handle and down and out the bottom of the pitcher. I don't think this is supposed to happen, but if it's by design it's a really horrible way to prevent "overflowing" in the upper compartment. You'll send up with dribbles of water and wonder where they came from, that's where.

DO NOT BUY THIS WATER PITCHER. As the other reviews stated, no matter how I try the lid falls off while pouring, making a huge mess. Just what I need before going to bed and pouring a glass of water. Who is the design challenged boob that came up with this thing? And why is Brita Co. selling this pitcher when it is so obviously flawed? Is it really that hard to design a water pitcher that pours water? My guess is that somehow this pitcher went into production before quality testing and now Brita needs to get rid of them. They should do the right thing and take it off the shelves. Total waste of money. This is a great pitcher to give someone as a practical joke, or to someone you wish ill. Also, I find that most Brita filters leave charcoal swimming in the water. And yes, I soak them for 15-20 minutes and rinse them well before installing into pitcher. Never had much luck with Brita pitchers or filters, but this one is by far the worst design ever conceived.
