I really appreciate that it has a separator between the water in the tank waiting to be filtered and the nozzle, preventing unfiltered water from being poured if you're in a rush to pour again after refilling. (Old one didn't have that.) I also feel like the design is easier to handle than the previous pitchers I've owned (ergonomics?).
To respond to two particular issues I've see posted in other reviews that gave me doubts before ordering:
1.) To me the weight complaint was a non issue. The filled weight in my hand I barely noticed a difference from my old pitcher of only slightly larger size. In fact if no one had said anything I bet I wouldn't have noticed, and keep in mind the real weight here is the water you're putting in the pitcher not the pitcher itself. (I.e. I weight this one empty and it was a little over 2 pounds, full it's about 7.5 pounds.) The empty weight of this pitcher was really only between 0.5-0.75 pounds heavier than my old one. Maybe this is an issue if you're not as strong, but again, that's not much when you consider the weight of water you're putting in it. For me, the more ergonomic pitcher design probably balanced that out.
2.) The one I received, you can still removed the upper portion filling tank to access the lower for cleaning and such. So the paper people talked about being stuck in there, well either they got one that had some how been glued or they just didn't figure out how to pop that out yet. I will admit that it is not as straight forward to pop that section out and as such is stays in tighter, but I actually kind of like that as my previous one fell out too easy at times it felt.
I only wish that the Red one were still available at a reasonable price.
Good pitcher, sturdy, easy to clean.
-The top cover snaps in positively
-Secondarily, the positive latching seals and prevents any unfiltered water from being poured out
-The fill lid stays open on its own
-The spout cover doesn't impede the flow and spill water everywhere.
It looks great on the counter, too.
