At 30 minutes, Britney: The Videos is even shorter than Britney's outfits! It has only four videos and is padded with one live performance, two commercials, and a featurette about her first starring role, in the movie Crossroads. Her fans won't mind, of course. The videos for "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know," "I'm a Slave 4 U," and "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" show the star is a born performer, while "Overprotected" features Crossroads outtakes as Spears lip-synchs in character from that movie. Also included is the eye-opening performance of "Slave" from the 2001 MTV Video Awards (complete with live snake), her "Joy of Pepsi" commercial, a teaser for Spears's HBO special from Las Vegas, and a glimpse at a Vogue magazine photo shoot to the strains of the song "Anticipating." Spears's cover of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" is heard during DVD chapter breaks. --Kevin Filipski

When an artist releases a video entitled, "The Videos", one would expect it to be a collection of videos. Instead, "Britney: The Videos" is a collection of three videos - "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know", "I'm A Slave 4 U", and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman." There are no other videos, unless you count "Overprotected" - outtakes of the movie set to the song. The DVD also includes a Pepsi commercial, an HBO commercial, and a performance from the 2001 VMAs. If you wanted a collection of Britney videos, ala "Dave Matthews Band: The Videos 1994-2001", you're out of luck (as I was). To get copies of the other videos you'll have to buy Britney's other two DVDs, but you still won't get the videos for "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" and "Born To Make You Happy", which I was really looking forward to having. If you simply want to buy anything with Britney's name on it, I say knock yourself out. However, if you're looking for the actual DVD that the name implies, I'd recommend waiting. In the meantime, her HBO special is coming out on DVD in January and would be a much better buy if you don't feel like buying a bunch of DVDs.

"Britney: The Videos" is good, but there was so much that could have been added to make it better. They included the VMA 2001 performance which was just amazing, but I really think they should have added the famous 2000 VMA performance as well. There are only four videos here. Two from the new album "Britney" (by the way, the "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" video included on here is different than the one seen on MTV) and Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know from her second album Oops!...I Did It Again. The behind the scenes is nothing really special. The one with the photo shoot is Britney just dancing to "Anticipating." Of course any fan will be happy to own this, but it was rushed and there should have been more interviews, etc. If you're a Britney fan, get it, but if you're expecting a lot from this DVD, don't get it.

Notice how I just said "another great Britney video"? That's my way of saying that Britney Spears puts out superb home music videos everytime without fail. This third offering from the Princess of Pop may only be 30 minutes long, yet is packed with amazing, must-see stuff for Britney fans everywhere. It is called Britney: The Videos, yet contains only two actual music videos - three if you count Overprotected which is just a performance with out-takes from Crossroads. In November 2001, Britney released her third album, Britney. It went to No.1 all over the world, sold 17 million copies...blah, blah, blah - see my review of the album for more. Later in the month, Britney: The Videos was released as a sort of essential item of merchandise to accompany the album. Everytime Britney releases a video, sales go through the roof - especially in America. At its short time-length, this video surpassed everyone's expectations as it topped the VHS chart for ages in the US and has only just left the Top 20 - almost a year after it was released!
The video begins with the music video to Britney's April 2001 hit, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know which was taken from her second album Oops!...I Did It Again. The video is set on a deserted beach as Britney runs around, scantily-clad with the love of her life. The video is beautiful - and not just because of Britney! The sky is a deep blue/purple and the sea is so calm. Despite this, the video caused a lot of controversy, but not enough for the single to go Top 10 in the UK - her only single not to chart in the UK Top 10 to date.

This DVD follows the trend that Britney had for her first 4 albums which was to release a DVD/VHS which included all the music videos and some concert footage from that album. "Time Out With Britney" Had all the ...Baby One More Time videos, Britney Spears Live and More! had all the Oops videos, and Britney In The Zone had the In The Zone Videos. Each of the other releases had a selection of live performances along with interviews and other behind the camera extras which Britney The Videos is missing.

Britney The Videos has the following:

- Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know Music Video
- I'm A Slave 4 U Music Video
- I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman Music Video
- Commercials for Britney Spears Live from Las Vegas and Joy of Pepsi
- I'm a Slave 4 U VMA Performance, Overprotected Video with Crossroads Outtakes
- "Behind the Scenes: Britney Strikes a Pose and Making of the Movie Crossroads

The behind the scenes section is misleading. The strike a pose is just a montage of photo shoots with music on over it and the making of Crossroads is more or less the same footage that comes in the special features of the movie. The videos are ok but it doesn't even include all the videos from the album as Overprotected The Darkchild Remix and I Love Rock and Roll are missing. The VMA performance is great to have as it's one of Britney's most iconic but it would have been nice to have more live performance footage. Overall even if you are a die hard fan you can probably skip this as there really isn't anything here you can't find on youtube or in the Greatest Hits Video Collection.
