You can buy replacement parts from Broan if need be, but after checking costs, its cheaper to buy a whole new unit.
My only frustration with the fan is I didn't look to the home stores for this fan. They carry it and I could have save myself $30.00 from what I paid through Amazon.
Unless your really handy with tools and electricity, I recommend you hire install on this fan. Can be overwhelming to the novice.
(In case you were wondering, yes, the fan was indeed installed correctly.)
Now the noisy fan. I turned on the fan when I got the new unit out of the box before installing the parts. It was pretty quiet. When installed in the ceiling box it was really loud, so what's going on. The fan motor and the cage fan are not balanced, it's just a press fit and it is what it is. These are inexpensive parts and the design is over 40 years old. That imbalance causes a vibration and when it's installed in the ceiling box the vibration is amplified by the box itself since it's all vibrating together now and the box acts as resonator and amplifies the sound, like a guitar or other string instrument.
I am now looking at several ways to isolate the motor from the rest of the surroundings. There are several possible ways and I haven't decided which way to go yet but if there are some of you that are mechanically inclined, you may want to try this as well. I think that's the answer to the noisy fan. Broan are you listening?
