Broan 680 Ventilation Fan/Light Combination
Improves Air Quality and Reduces Humidity
A fantastic fusion of high function and practical design, this Broan 680 classic ventilation fan/light combination makes a useful addition to the home. Keep air moving in a workshop, prevent smoke and cooking smells from stagnating in a small kitchen, or effectively pull moisture up and out of the bathroom during those hot, steamy showers in the morning. The unit comes equipped with a 100-CFM 4-sones motor that gets the job done.
Designed especially for bathrooms up to 90 square feet, the ventilating fan helps return the room to a normal humidity level, which in turn helps prevent mold, mildew-fostering vapor, and other cosmetic and structural problems associated with excess moisture. When connected to a GFCI branch circuit, the ceiling-mount fan/light combo is UL listed for use over bathtubs and showers, offering powerful ventilation where it's needed most.
Bright 100-Watt Overhead Light
Why stop at just powerful ventilation when--with the flip of a switch--you can also experience extra lighting to help brighten up the room? In addition to its ventilating fan, the ceiling fixture functions as a useful overhead light source, offering general overall room lighting with a bright 100-watt incandescent light capacity (bulb not included).
Best of all, the fixture offers a stylish, yet inconspicuous addition to the room thanks to its sleek contemporary design that combines a shatter-resistant light-diffusing lens with a clean white polymeric grille, which nicely complements virtually any decor. The molded plastic grille measures 10-5/8 inches long by 11-1/8 inches wide, and the unit extends only 2 inches down from the ceiling.
Powerful Motor and Easy to Install
Made to fit 2-inch by 6-inch ceiling construction, the unit's motor housing measures 8 inches long by 8-1/4 inches wide by 5-3/4 inches high. The HVI-certified, type IC (Insulation Contact) unit provides a centrifugal blower wheel, an efficient polymeric fan impeller, a 4-inch duct, and a plug-in, permanently lubricated, 4-pole motor.
Mounting ears offer quick, sturdy installation, while polymeric duct connectors with tapered sleeves allow for easy, positive ducting. Use the Broan 680 ventilation fan/light combination unit with model 68W (White) or 68V (Ivory) two-function control (available separately) for convenient on/off at the wall--one switch controls the light and the other controls the ventilating fan.

Top customer reviews
It takes about 5 minutes to go from a 678 (50 cfm) or the 679 (70 cfm) to the 100 cfm of this.
The motor is about 4 times the size of the 678 and the fan seems higher quality.
If you are upgrading from the 678 or 679 you take of the light cover, 1 screw, and then the plastic surround comes off along with the light holder. From there it is pulling a plug and removing the old motor mount and fan. Then just pop the new one in.
Where I think this fan fails is loudness and vibration. There is a ton of noise from vibration. The fan itself is pretty quiet, but when a lightbulb or the bulb cover are vibrating it can get insanely loud and sounds like something is wrong.
I think they need a little gasket on the light dome to absorb vibration, and maybe include a rubber washer or two for the other parts.
It is so much better than the 50cfm model though in terms of air flow. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. The price here could not be beat. I would never put a new one of these in a new construction or rehab, but this saved me lots of hassle since it just snapped in to the old housing.
The fan is somewhat loud, though the drone of the motor is no louder than my shower, so I don't even notice it. There is no "rumbling" sound throughout the house, as others have noted, nor is the fan disturbingly loud when my bathroom door is shut. Overall, I like the product and even bought another for my second bathroom. The price is reasonable, too. It does everything it advertises.
And, it is not a quiet fan. It is definitely loud, but it's effectiveness in venting moisture from the bath area outweighs this drawback.
I would recommend this fan to anyone who wants good ventilation with a light and is not as concerned with fan noise.
A little difficult to remove the old one, used vice grips to bend the old frame in so that I could see the attachment screws then cut them off with a chisel. Reconnected the flex duct to the fan before lifting it into place. Used holes in the side plate of the new fan to screw side plate to exist support beam.
It is louder but does the job. put a little foam stick on insulation between the lens and the frame to stop a vibration rattle.
Been fine since moves a lot more air.
