That being said, I was coming off a Kenmore Elite grill of this same size that lasted ten years and it was time to move on. The Broil King has very nice cast iron grates and its warming rack, (which I cook on typically) is larger than the one in my old Kenmore. I seasoned the cast iron grates with flax seed oil and baked them at 500 degrees a couple times. Also, the side burner is a first for me and it works great. To be on the picky side, I wish its lowest setting was a true simmer burner, but I'll get over myself.
This grill heats up nicely and I would let it burn at its hottest for at least 15-20 minutes to smoke out the chemicals, (I got this up to 650 degrees and there was a brownish like smoke that discharged) when you first get it. I've noticed this grill retains its heat very well and almost had trouble actually reducing it a couple times. Once, I had three of its burners at their minimums and one turned off just to get it down to 350 degrees.
I wouldn't have minded the wheels to be a little bigger for the few times I move it but its nothing to fuss about. Overall, an excellent and powerful grill with quality parts. If Broil-King would make their bigger unit, the five burner, in this black and silver combo, I would've purchased that one instead as I'm not a fan of an entirely stainless unit.
My snapshot comment is its better than a Weber Spirit or a Weber Genesis for a lot less money. We have a Genesis E310 (3 burner, stainless grates) at our Swiss home. I prefer cooking on the Broil King. The 4 burners on the Broil King are more adaptable to different foods and cooking approaches. The cast iron grates result in less food rolling into the burners, the cast iron grates retain heat better. I also get the feeling the Broil King is more sturdy/less flex, easier to roll around and just feels tighter. Could be I assembled the Broil King and a dealer the Weber.
Cooking on cast iron grates is excellent. Don't get lured in by stainless is better unless you're cooking small quantities (of large enough pieces that won't slide/roll through the grates). If you're dealing with a party or large cuts of meat, cast iron has way more heat retention and storage capability (mass). Nor does cast iron warp and start wobbling around when handling food.
We've had ours for 3 years now. It sits covered on a pool deck 50 feet from salt water in south Florida with the prevailing breeze blowing right into it. There's not a spec of rust on it, including the grates. Igniters work. Everything works.
One complaint I see is holes not lining up during assembly. They don't. Take your time, align them up as best as possible, and bear down hard on your screwdriver to catch a thread. Once its done, its done for good. Ours get's wheeled around frequently and nothing has loosened up. I thought my grill was particularly bad in this respect. But the hardware is good, I never stripped a single screw getting it all together.
Another complaint is the drip tray. It absolutely stinks. I keep a towel underneath it and simply run it through the wash every now and then. I've tried my creative approaches but never managed to come up with a better solution than an old towel.
