I thought I knew it all about cooking on a budget, but "The Broke-Ass Cookbook" actually introduced me to some new dishes I had not tried. I can definitely relate to the author's humor, as I grew up pretty much the same way. Great book and I recommend it to everyone. I keep the book handy for those in-a-pinch moments.

I didn't grow up in a situation where we were worried about food, but I have lived in one as an adult. I appreciate this book for what it is. This is a simple ebook and yes there are lots of grammatical errors but it's a work from the heart, not from a top publishing house with editors on staff. No, the recipes are not of the healthiest variety but when you have to feed hungry children and only have $5, you do what you have to do.

The Broke-Ass Cookbook is filled with no-nonsense cooking and shopping advice from someone who has "been there" and has learned how to stretch the food dollar.

The recipes are well thought out but far from gourmet. They are the kind of recipes you turn to when you have to make the most of what you have.

The author also gives plenty of shopping and cooking tips on how to trim your food budget.

The only reason why I rated this book 4 stars is because the book was too short and I didn't want to stop reading it. Hopefully, there will another book, as this author knows her stuff.

I download most cookbooks when they are offered free and this one wasn't a waste of bandwidth. The recipes are basic and that's what is intended, someone can make these recipes with limited cooking resources. Not just college dorms, these would be good for RVs and camping. I intend to try a few next time I go on a camping trip.

I have gone through some pretty tough times when it comes to money, and cooking on a budget is nothing new to me. That being said, not much in this book was news to me, but I'm sure that for someone newly on their own on a budget, this book would be helpful.

Some things I think that would've been helpful to add in the book would have been cheap bean recipes (since dry beans are so cheap), shopping tips, and maybe some crock pot recipes and an honorable mention for pressure cooking (time is money).

As a broke-ass college student, i find these recipes extremely helpful. I think this book is great and easy to understand and I love the personal touch she gives by sharing her experiences.

The concept is good. The writing and grammar is pretty bad. I found over 5 errors in under 20 minutes of reading. I generally enjoy cookbooks, but I don't think boiling pasta, chopping up cheap hot dogs, and opening a can of tomatoes counts. Why can't the author be bothered to add the seasonings to the ingredients list? Give us a starting point for "what tastes good". Not everyone has been cooking since they were 10.

This is a wonderful cookbook for those on a limited budget. It contains many tips for frugal cooking and purchasing foods to cook and cooking methods. No, these recipes are not gourmet, but they aren't meant to be. They are meant to help you feed yourself and your family with limited resources.

I learned a few new tricks and techniques and some of these recipes are actually delicious and surprisingly nutritious. And gave me ideas for my own creations. Also, jazzing them up with spices or other things you may have on hand is a fun way to improve flavor.
