Tyler Alexander had it all and in the blink of an eye...gone! Broken Bastard will take you on an emotional roller coaster. His father hates him, his brother hates him, and there's no love lost between them.
Tyler only gets through each day knowing that one day the family-owned company will belong to him—when that day comes—then he can run it the way he wants. No one in his family knows he's gay because they would go ballistic and disown him. Unfortunately, his secrets aren't quite as secret as he thought.
In one day, Tyler learns that he has lost everything. He has no family, no one he can trust, and no one who believes him. He is in a terrible situation with no end in sight. He is stripped, literally, of everything and doesn't know how—or if—he wants to go on living.
I don't want to go into much of the story because what happens is a major turning point in the story and the reader should get to experience it for themselves. So, I'm being vague. I will say that Tyler was completely gob-smacked and I was right there with him.
Under his current circumstances, he meets Bailey, a man in a similar situation who gives him guidance but more than anything he gives him hope. Their time together is cut short but they have an instant connection that will ultimately be the strength and love needed to support Tyler through his long journey back.
The book cover shows he's behind bars so be aware of trigger warnings as there are a couple scenes of graphic violence. Broken Bastard was very emotional in a lot of places as the author really puts Tyler through the ringer. You could feel the character's pain and despair—his fear like it was real. The author tapped into the emotions of the character and relayed that well on the page.
With that said, there are also places that were unbelievable, or maybe far-fetched for story emphasis, and I had to suspend my disbelief, at times—plus, there's a bad case of insta-love that 9 out of 10 times will throw me out of a story, but... put that aside, and it is a very touching and moving story that I wanted to continue reading and see the conclusion.
The story closes with a well-deserved happy ever after for Tyler and Bailey—and more tearful moments—but ones that were brought on from happiness instead of sorrow. Overall, aside from the issues mentioned, I did enjoy the story.
After the sudden death of his father, he finds out that he is actually not his son but a product of a rape, that they all knew he was gay, that everything he worked for was now gone, and was being framed from stealing millions of dollars from the company!
Arrested, broke, and has caught the eye of a much bigger man in jail all he wants is to die, that is until he meets Bailey. Bailey helps him and tries to be there for him and protect him as much as possible but when he is paroled out and Tyler is left behind tragedy strikes and threatens to take Tyler away forever!
Will Baileys love and strength be enough for Tyler to fight back and truly get the justice that he deserves?
This was a story that kept my attention and there was always something going on. Tyler finds out that he isn’t really his father’s son and to top it all off he is accused of stealing from his family and is sent to jail. There he meets Bailey who is to help him transition to prison life, but becomes much more quickly.
Both of these characters are sweet maybe just a bit to perfect for my tastes. Tyler goes through so much in a short amount of time, but comes out of it just as quickly if I followed the timeline correctly. Bailey meets Tyler at the very end of his sentence and has to leave him behind. I had trouble connecting with the characters even though I could feel their pain and worry everything just seemed to come together to easy once the hard stuff was mostly done. While I has some issues with it I still greatly enjoyed the story and even look forward to the second story in the series and I don’t often read stories with female MCs. I do however want to point out there were quite a few editing errors (jelly instead of jello and a lot of missing quotations).
The cover art is nice and catches your eye.

Review: Tyler Maxwell Alexander lives a very comfortable lifestyle and is openly gay, but not to his family. He works with his brother at his Grandfather’s business, which their father has handed down. Tyler has had to hide who he is at work and with his family in fear of them finding out. What Tyler doesn’t know is that the family has gone behind his back and planned something so horrifying. You will need to read this book to find out what happens!! I will say that during Tyler’s difficult time, he meets Bailey… his silver lining.
Broken Bastard is a captivating MM romance with a unique and well – paced story line and I was immediately sucked in. The characters are engaging and well developed and they had me feeling emotional throughout the book.
A wonderful story and a definite add to your TBR list!
