This book is about Sarah and Leo, Sarah was introduced in Changing Course and then again in Stolen Course. First off I hated Sarah in both of the books, no actually hate is to nice of a word for Sarah I can't even begin to describe how much I disliked her. She was vindictive and just spiteful pure hatred radiated off her body but finally in Broken Course we really get to know the real Sarah and I can't begin to tell you how much I loved her in this book, crazy yes but being in her head put her into different light. Then there is Leo, Leo was introduced in Among the Echoes. I loved him in the book and I really thought we as the readers got to know him pretty well in it too. Nope, wrong again. Leo is so much more then what I learned first time around.
Sarah and Leo will capture your heart, they are both crazy and some pretty effed up past but together they learn to grow and adapt to each other. It's like all along they have been waiting for each other. There are some very good plot twist in Broken Course and of course a few of my favorite couples make some cameos in this book which I love even more. The epilogue neatly ties up the whole wreaked and ruined series although I hope Aly isn't done there's a couple others I would be interested in reading about. Once again Aly you did it again, when I think they last book of yours I read is amazing you go and one up it. If I could give this book more then 5 stars I totally would! You would seriously be a fool to not one click this book now! I highly recommend reading Changing Course, Stolen Course and Among the Echoes to get a feel for the characters!!
Broken Course is an exceptional book. Aly Martinez has written the story of a woman who most of us hated throughout the other books in the series. We didn't fully understand how she could ruin so many people's lives and yet still be here to tell about it. But deep down I knew she had more of a story that held all the answers we all craved to hear.
When Sarah meets Leo James, it's almost as if the stars aligned just right so that they would enter each other's lives. Both broken souls who don't know where their destiny will lead them. Leo, most recently in a witness protection program, now free to live anyway he chooses, yet so lost in not knowing how to survive without the job he was entrusted so long ago. He had his own demons to face and to conquer and he's not sure if he'll ever really be able to be happy.
Leo is still haunted by the awful incident that he bore witness to, in order to save not only his own life but that of Erica, his closest friend and strongest ally. But Erica has survived, finding love and happiness, has moved on and now it's Leo's turn.
Together with Sarah, they stumble, they fall, they hold each other up. But can it be enough to overcome the nightmares, the mind-numbing thoughts that grip their consciences and the self-doubt that plagues both of them? Do they deserve a bit of a future, whether together or apart, and the joy that seems only to be a distant dream?
I can tell you this.Read more ›
Broken Course had me hooked from the first word. There was never even a second that I lost interest. Not one. The way that Aly Martinez integrated all of her previous books (including one from another series) and tied them all together is phenomenal. With every book I think to myself, “There is no way she can get better. She’s already the best.” With every book, Aly has proved me wrong.
Broken Course is a whirlwind of emotions; I went from hatred to love to sorrow to happiness. Every. Single. Chapter. I have emotional whiplash. I normally can recover from a book and be ready to go on to a new one the next day. This one does NOT follow that rule. Also, I have never known a book to have a title so perfect for the story.
Another way that Aly Martinez proved me wrong was that within Broken Course, there were so many surprises and plot twists thrown in; I never knew what was going to happen next. I have seen other authors try to accomplish this feat only to have it come back and bite them in the butt. It usually makes a story feel crazy over-the-top fake and cheesy as well as forced. It often times can and will completely destroy a book. Does it with Broken Course? No way! Each twist and turn leads the story down a new, more exciting path.
The character development throughout Broken Course is unparalleled. To see Sarah go from antihero to heroine was something I never thought would be possible. Again, another example of how Aly proved me wrong. Sarah’s growth from Changing Course and Stolen Course is inspiring. It shows that through hard work and dedication, even the most broken person can overcome adversity and come out on top.Read more ›
