This book is a fast paced book that has just a little bit of everything from a new twist on Alice in wonderland to a fight against dark magic at work.
This book has well developed characters that are easy to connect with so much so you will find yourself falling down the rabbit hole with them, and find the story becoming a part of you.
At first I wasn't so sure about this book because I don't really read fairytale retellings very much, but once I was a few chapters in time just seemed to disappear along with the book. By the time I realized that I was done with the book I found myself wanting more. I can't wait to see what the next book will be about and what other worlds Alicia might travel to.
I voluntarily Reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.
Cast of characters: Alice Stark, a white witch who has the ability to jump different worlds/relams by way of portals, a Cheshire cat, a Mad Hatter, Red Queen ( evil), the queens guards (Red), Grayson Blackwell, a dragon shifter who just happens to be one of the Red Queens guards, a White Queen, witches, a hellhound, a fae, enchanted creatures, otherworldly monsters, and inhuman allies.
When reading this book, think along the lines of "Alice in Wonderland or Alice Through the Looking Glass". Alice Stark, a white witch is looking for her missing parents by jumping through different relams. When she lands in one relam, everything seems off. Her magic is being blocked! And the adventure begins!
Read to find out how she gets out of this weird world. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and this review is my own opinion.
I have to say I have never really been a fan of "Alice in Wonderland" so wasn't sure what to expect, but when I started reading " Broken Magic" I was immediately drawn into the story. It starts off with a Alicia running for her life from some hellhounds, and just when she thinks she is safe and heading through the portal to home, she finds herself in a whole different world. This is a very unique twist to a familiar fairytale. Even if you aren't sure, like me, about reading this little twist of tales, take a chance and read it. I think you will find it as intriguing and exciting as I did.
Alicia is a white witch searching the different realms for her missing parents. This new world is full of strange fascinations and within it she finds her magic is being blocked by something or someone. Her only hope is to meet with the Queen. Can she trust the dragon shifter that saves her from an evil cat? There are temptations along the way that may prove to strong for even Alicia to resist. Will the dark magic win over or will Alicia hold her moral ground and be stronger than the evil pulling at her?
I received this ARC and volunteered to provide an honest review.
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, (but I have already bought my own copy) but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!!
The cover is very cool! I like it!
This is the first book in the series!
This is an interesting new world! My only disappointment is that there was no romance, but I’m hoping that changes in the next book. There were some slow parts for me with the world building, but this happens in new worlds. I definitely think it is going to grow and getter better as Grayson and Alicia’s relationship grows. There is the mystery of looking for Alicia’s parents, and she ends up in a world similar to Alice’s Wonderland. Alicia fights for others which makes me admire her. Grayson had some moments where he needed to be slapped and have his eyes opened. In the end, he made up for his mistakes. The faeries were interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what Alicia and Grayson get themselves into next!
I recommend to all paranormal fans who like interesting worlds mixed with witches, mages, shifters, magic, and more! I can’t wait for more!
