I love this book. After I finished this book it made me wonder how many service members actually come home like Charlie is and don't get the help they really need and do they have someone like Rudolph there with them to help them and watch over them?
Ashley is a single mom who is working and going to college and doesn't have time for a relationship. Charlie is now out of the service and very broken marine. He found his ex girlfriend had cheated on him with his best friend while he was serving overseas. Then he lost some of his friends overseas. He doesn't think he needs help from the doctors so he just tries to drink and screw the pain away. When they meet there is instant attraction and they start dating After a few weeks things happen and he finally goes off the deep end and scares Ashley to the point that she tells him they are done. Will Charlie finally get the help he needs to fix himself? Will Ashley ever talk to him again so he can apologize for his behavior that day and maybe give him a second chance? Will Ashley forgive him and give him a second chance or will she move on with her life even though she loves him?
This story has the potential to be sssoooo good, but it's so short that it has to many holes. Most books give way to many details. This one is a short story but leaves you with to many questions.
*spoliers* like what happened to ella's mom?
Where's ashleys brother? Does she ever talk to her parents? What happened to make Charlie the way he is? What's the point of making him out to be a man whore if they only ever have to deal with 1 girl and ashley never hears anything about him from other people.
Filling in the blanks and making the story a little longer would have made it better. It would have made it all seem more real and the characters real and relatable.
The 1 part I didn't get was the bonus chapter. What was the point of her birthday. Ya it showed he shouldn't function without him and that he was willing to.go out of his way for her but considering that the rest of the story didn't have any extra details this chapter seemed really out of place and didn't add to the story.
