About the Author
Sandra Dowling Housley is an author of inspirational non-fiction. She lives in Colorado Springs, CO and is a mother of two daughters and proud grandmother. The passion for her writing comes from a deep love for her Savior, and a desire to encourage others to turn to God for the answers to life’s arduous trials. Through her church, Sandra facilitates a faith-based support group for family members and friends of those with mental health issues. She is available to speak to your group or church about her story and/or how to start a support group. She hopes to encourage churches to come alongside the nearly-forgotten segment of our churches who suffer from mental challenges and their family members.

The author, "Sandy" Housley, provides a very detailed, hold-nothing-back accounting of her harrowing 13+ year marriage to her husband Mark who she learns over time is plagued with severe psychotic mental illness, alcohol addiction, multiple financial failures, raging emotional episodic fits, and other challenging issues. As a committed Christian, the author bares her soul and emotions to the reader, intimately sharing her early hopes and aspirations for the man she lovingly devotes her life to. And later, reveals the exploding litany of catastrophic events that unfold and threaten to destroy everyone near and dear in her life- her family, friends, herself and her husband.
As the title suggests - "A Broken Mind Redeemed" - this inspiring book is intended to not be a mere chronology of outrageous personal and marital challenges, so much as an extremely personal and instructive "survivor's manual" on how to effectively cope in the chaos of a love relationship to someone near-&-dear with severe mental illness. Filled with relevant Bible verses, often shocking excerpts from her daily diary, the wise advice of Godly counselors, and numerous insightful revelations from the author, this tome provides a practical, poignant, Christ-based "how-to" resource to help guide anyone seeking Hope in successfully dealing with a mentally ill loved one. Then redeem that relationship with God's Help.
