Lies, secrets, and scars will be revealed and it will make your heart burn with animosity for the characters that did that to make the characters the way they are. Although it wouldn't have been a pretty decent book without this. Now working this book, you learn how broken people can truly be.
Breaking down walls and vanquishing the demons of the past: It will be a challenge for these characters as they give and take the strength that they need.
With the version that I received, there were safety precautions taken because the formatting really threw me off and so it took me a lot longer to read the book than it should have. I understand that they are precautions but there should be a level of trust between authors and certain bloggers.
Anyways, the POV changes a lot -- at least I think so -- between the two main characters.
Deep seated issues come out in this book and it truly is terrifying that this does happen to some families and we are truly unaware of these aforementioned issues. Kelly Moore does a pretty good job at creating this sub plot build up to the climax.
Though this didn't keep you on your toes as wanted, it still was a decent novel to read. So with a 3 out of 5 stars, I will blog you later, awesome book nerds.
I can't even explain the sympathy I felt for Brogan. She is such a damaged individual with nothing but pain for memories. And though she feels no man could ever love her because of how broken she is, along comes Kyren. The beautiful, sweet, caring Kyren...
Kyren is perfect. So perfect. When he tells her he's broken too, doesn't that make it so much more perfect? Damaged and broken into pieces the same as Brogan, they hit it off instantly and intensely. I loved watching Brogan go from a scared little girl, to the happy woman she was with him. Their relationship seemed right in every way.
Suspenseful, shattering, and very unexpected. "On the edge of my seat" isn't even a fully accurate description of how I was while reading this... I was literally pacing the floor, jumping at every little sound I heard. I was sucked right into the pages of this book, completely and utterly unaware of the world going on around me. The climax of the story was unnerving. "Thrown for a loop" would be the best way to put it. I couldn't believe it. Can you say, "What the fudge?!" Poor Brogan. I feel like she'd already been through so much, but this unexpected twist made me feel for her all the more.
Arghh! Geez. Why leave me like this? Why leave me asking so many questions? I was a bit disappointed, you could say. I felt the ending was rushed and definitely not fully formed. Of course it's not always a bad thing to have an ending you didn't want, but in this case, I was upset with the outcome. I just didn't understand... And I need some questions answered. But, I guess that means I must read the sequel! :)

HEROINE: Brogan Milby, 26--Nurse practitioner at a plastic surgeon's office. Believes herself unlovable, unworthy, she hates affection and emotions. Sees a therapist regularly to help her deal with her tragic childhood. Doesn't do relationships and prefers to be in control sexually because of her past. She's sarcastic, a ball-buster, damaged and broken.
"This is why I am alone. I have yet to learn to control my demons."
HERO: Kyren Nolan, 32--Yacht builder. Ex-military. He's sweet, sexy and charismatic but plagued by his own demons.
PLOT: Kyren bursts into Brogan's life and breaks down the walls she's erected around herself. Kyren isn't put off by her issues but goes after what he wants. Just as Brogan begins to heal and has found peace & happiness for the first time, someone tries to destroy it.
REVIEW: An enjoyable read with lots of sexy time, a little action and suspense. Looking forward to the rest of Brogan & Kyren's story.
POV: first person, heroine
EDITING: tolerable but needs some work
WRITING: occasionally the lack of contractions leave it sounding a bit too formal/unnatural
ENDING: CLIFFHANGER - Their story will continue in the sequel, Pieced Together.
WARNINGS: h recounts childhood rape. H recounts past torture.
