I actually hurt for Tim during his story.
Levi makes the absolute best match for him as his human partner because the guy is like a really tough marshmallow. He's soft and sweet without being willing to back down. If the Staypuff Marshmallow Man was a superhero? That's the superhero Levi would be. I loved how he never took Tim for granted or made it seem as if Tim was the only one of them invested in their partnership either in the bedroom or at work.
Tim and Levi ease along together as they learn to deal with "All My Broken Pieces" regarding Tim's discomfort over his disability and his lifelong fears related to being used and rejected again. I loved seeing them bond in sweet ways as well as the fun sexy ones. I definitely loved seeing Levi appreciate Kieran -the fox shifter who is basically Tim's only family- since it wasn't something Levi was doing to make Tim happy: he really liked Kieran and saw him as the only family Tim had which made him equally important in his eyes.
All My Broken Pieces is still a Shifters and Partners standalone set in a cop world so there are crimes to solve -including a heartbreaking case where a young gay man was murdered for his sexuality- yet the crime aspect only enhanced the story for me. It showed the strength Tim had as an officer and the compassion both he and Levi managed to maintain for the victims in spite of being "expected" to deal with victims as a part of the job. I'd recommend this read for someone wanting a comfort read with a lot of heart and soul to it. There's a strong family-matters vibe to it I really loved. I love found-family stories since my own life experiences have led to more found-family than birth-family bonding.
I don't think I could have found any way to make this book better. It's a stellar addition to the series.
Keiran was great at helping Tim realize what he had in Levi. I would really enjoy a story about Kieran.
The night before Tim's to arrive at the facility for the program he decides to scratch an itch. He picks up, Levi Cardwell, the two have quite a lovely time together. When they part way Tim doesn't expect the two to meet again. Unbeknownst to the two is that they're both enrolled for the same certification program. Tim thinks he knows how to handle the awkward surprise. Levi has his own thoughts on the situation and how he'll like to handle it.
I thought this was quite a cute read. I loved Tim for being so straightforward. He made me laugh so hard when approached Levi and said what he did. Levi's reaction was pretty priceless. Tim's self image and confidence were will portrayed and it was a feeling we all have felt at one time in our life.
I was glad seeing Tim having such a great support team composed of Levi and Kieran. I also like that total strangers he came across were more than willing to accept him as he was.
The PT portion towards the end made me feel said for Tim. I could understand the amount of pain he was in and could really relate to him. I did cry a little but I enjoyed the book immensely
A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
Thisatory is not a police story. It's really about the struggle of pulling yourself up from self defeat. It's also about friendship and being there for someone.
I would give this 3.5 stars only because it was told through Tim's point of view only. I would have like to know what the other two main characters were thinking. But that's just me.
