WHAT IS A PROMISE?
A promise is a wedding ring, a symbol of forever love, or a lighthouse guiding ships to shore. A promise is a deal with the Devil, a prepper's safehouse in the country, or a commitment to care for a beloved pet. When you break a promise, something precious dies. Something…or someone.
Broken Promises is a collection of short stories by established and emerging writers from the Dublin Creative Writers Cooperative. Contributors were given only the premise of "broken promises" to play with, but common and unexpected themes emerged: marriage and infidelity, death and morality, myths, and the perilous sea. In this collection you will find flash fiction, short stories, and a novelette, written in a wide range of genres and styles from fantasy to suspense to historical fiction. You will encounter starlets, monsters, pirates, and ghosts. It is our hope that you'll laugh, gasp, snicker, and reflect as you read Broken Promises: An Anthology.

About the authors
As a child, I thought of myself as a lost wanderer in this world. After growing up, camping and cooking over an open fire, living underground and cooking on a wood stove, living on a sailboat and cooking on an alcohol stove, staying home, going out dancing, working in aerospace and government, I have discovered that we all wander. When we get lost, we can find ourselves. And we can create worlds of our own.
My husband and I divide our time between Ohio and Florida, with as many side trips to Albuquerque as we can manage, particularly when the balloons are in full bloom.
J. H. Schiller was born a coal miner's daughter in a tiny town in southwest Virginia. Between her education abroad and her career in the Federal government, she traveled the world from home to Hangzhou. She finally settled in Ohio, where she is a full-time writer. She is the founder and President of Dublin Creative Writers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides education and community for creative writers in Ohio and beyond. She is also a member of the SFWA and Codex Writers.

I had to think deep into where the broken promise was in some of these stories, which was actually a great exercise to truly appreciate this collection.
Great read(s)!!
