Editorial Reviews

...has everything you could want action, suspense and romance. Who needs to spend $10.00 on a movie ticket when you can take a great ride at home. - Everyday Life

I found out the main character is an engineer - and a female - so of course that drew me in immediately and I was hooked!  So much suspense and drama in the book!  The book kind of reminds me a bit of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - which is one of my favorites.  Strong female lead, technical stuff going on, smart ladies, ACTION! - Concert Katie

Just when I thought I had figured out one piece of the puzzle another character was introduced or something in the story shifted and I was completely thrown off balance... Last night I was reading, it was almost 1:00 AM and I said out loud... to the couch, apparently, since nobody else was awake... I can't figure out "who done it." Come on... you know the old line attached to all mysteries... WHO DONE IT!?! - Griffin's Honey

Right from the get-go you can't help but feel that trouble just follows Jen Jones around. The chemistry between Jen and David is right there from the beginning. Even David has a secret... - Busy Bumble Bee

As a mystery/thriller fan I am used to playing the detective game myself as the plot progresses. With every twist I was forced to reevaluate and suspect a different character and by the three quarter of the book I had suspected each character at least once. - Book Reviews by DDS

Rachelle Ayala wove a love story that wasn't a fairy tale and mixed it with enough suspense that I didn't want to put the book down! Broken Build radiated forgiveness, faith, and love & taught the readers how forgive as well. - Cherry Lemonade

As many of my longtime readers know, former characters and readers' favorites tend to appear and reappear in my stories. I love the sense of continuity that allows us a chance to catch up with their lives.

Vera Custodio gets her own book in Knowing Vera where she suspects her father is the killer of her boy toy's mother.
Jen and Dave make cameos in Hidden Under Her Heart at their Lake Tahoe cabin.
Jen and Dave make a cameo appearance in Whole Latte Love on board the Mogul Bank yacht.
Jen and Dave play a key role in Christmas Flirt.
Jen and Dave continue their shopping network domination in Santa's Pet.

A smart & fascinating read with vivid writing and a very likeable main character (Jen) who is strong, intelligent and independent, but also has a vulnerability that is perhaps what endeared her to me. The book kicks off with suspense and mystery in abundance, there is something for everyone here, be it the mystery, technology or the romance that draws you in. Jen is a computer whiz who takes a job working for Dave's startup company. He is someone from her past but he doesn't recognise her having altered her appearance so much. Things soon heat up!

This book has a sophisticated storyline and good depth of characters, but be aware of the tech talk - although intriguing, it was beyond my understanding, but thankfully it didn't affect my following of the plot. There are some chapters where the pace drops off, and some moments where I got lost, so I was going to give 4 stars. But because I liked Jen, the story wasn't predictable and held me in suspense until in the end, I went for 5 stars.

Jennifer Cruz is a girl with a past. She undergoes plastic surgery to change her image in hopes for a better life. But images can't change her heart and the things that haunt her. It can't change the fact that she's in love with the man she wronged. Now that she works for his company, will he recognize her? Jen is faced with new fears instead of ditching her troubled past.

Things get a little too close for comfort when Dave, the man Jen's in love with, shows great interrest in her. Romance blooms, but secrets play on Jen's heart. Will Dave learn who she is? Would he ever be able to forgive her for what she'd done?

When Rey Custudio, a man out to take what he can from Jen, is murdered while waiting for Jen to finish a job he's forced her to do, suspicion falls on Jen. Her relationship crumbles, and trust becomes an issue between Dave and Jen.

Secrets emerge, lies unfold and Jen soon learns beauty is only skin deep. Will Dave love her for who she is, or forgive her past indescretions if the truth is revealed?

Broken Build is an exciting story full of twists and turns, murder and deception, with a steamy romance. The question is, can love prevail and trust be gained, or will the past destroy what Jen and Dave have? I can't spoil the fun, but I can say Ms. Ayala has done it again by creating another riveting tale sure to keep you guessing!

Romance, suspense, love, and betrayal abound in this book. Rachelle Ayala did a fine job generating an intriguing plotline and creating a series of interesting characters.

With a new look and a new job, computer-savvy Jen Jones is determined to make up for past mistakes--blackmail and murder notwithstanding.

Though not above using rich, married women to help fund is new venture, Dave Jewel is still grieving his deceased wife and the disappearance of his only child. He harbors great resentment toward the woman he believes is responsible. Little does he know that woman now works for him.

When things heat up between Jen and Dave, it's only a matter of time before all of her secrets are revealed. Will their tumultuous relationship survive the truth?

I love a good suspense/mystery, and the twists and turns in this book gave me plenty of what I was looking for. I did, however, find the "tech talk" to be somewhat distracting at times. Though I understand the author's desire to show Dave as a tortured soul, for me, his attitude and actions toward Jen and the women he used, made it difficult for me to like him until the very end.

Overall, this was a great read. I will definitely look for more of Ayala's work.

All of the scattered plot lines and multitude of characters that were introduced made this book a circuitous mess. Added to that, there were too many tech details that were rather boring and didn't do much to advance the storyline, at least not quickly. I found the so-called hero Dave to be extremely unlikeable; someone who pretty much sold his services like a gigolo to get wealthy married women to invest in his tech company. It was a bit difficult for me to suspend disbelief in all the over the top drama surrounding these character's personal history. Then he was repeatedly and tiresomely hot and cold toward the main character Jen. With the language and the generally coarse story line, it seemed like a very odd juxtaposition for these two characters to suddenly start referencing Bible scriptures toward the end. It doesn't seem like the kind of story to appeal to people who would be interested in Christian fiction, and seems like it might annoy people who aren't. It was just odd in this story, and really just made Dave seem like a big hypocrite.

I'm an avid reader, and sometimes I will download cheap or free books on my kindle. Sometimes I find an expected gem. At times like this, it is a reminder to me that you get what you pay for. Then I'll pay a bit more for a good book, borrow from the library, or download a classic. It took me a long time to slog through this. This is one of those times that I wish I had just stopped reading before the end. The tangled mess of the plot and the tangled relationships of all these characters that comes out toward the end was just too much, and too unbelievable. I didn't really find it to be a likable romance or taut suspense. It could have potential if a heavy handed editor could get a hold of it.
