These coins, however, are super expensive and feel super cheap. They look thicker in the pictures and the details look sharper. In real life, they're lackluster. I feel like I could bend them if I wanted to. They sound ok when they clink together, but in the hand, they're surprisingly light.
For the price, the coins could be thicker by a MM or two, or could have used a zink alloy to give it some heft. Other companies, like Fantasy Coin or Campaign Coin offer thicker heftier coins for less. Fantasy Coin, in particular, has wonderful hefty square coins to use in Waterdeep.
If these coins were 30, or 35 (as Top Shelf Gaming offers the exact same coin set for 35), I'd say ok. But 50 bucks? These are getting returned, for sure.
I am Very happy with the quality of these coins, I realize that some may be turned off by the price, but coin companies make these in lots and they aren't cheap to make due to having to make custom dies for the designs etc.
If the Lords of waterdeep game was a HUGE hot item they would be cheaper because they would already have the dies cut.
I like the weight and feel of these coins to be used with my game. Some complain they aren't heavier, well if they were they would cost more to ship etc.
If you are a fan of D&D these are well worth the money!
