I enjoyed Starfire Angels, and I like Broken Wings even more. It continues the story about Raea, the Crystal Keeper of a shard that could become deadly, if put into the wrong hands. And, unfortunately for Raea, the enemies are out to do whatever they have to in order to take that shard.

What I liked most about this book was trying to figure out who I could trust and who I couldn't. Raea is taken back (by force) to her home planet where danger lurks at every corner. It was fun to get a chance to see where her parents came from, but like I said before, it was trying to figure out if the two men sent to protect her, were really going to protect her--or turn her over to the enemy's army.

Through all of this Raea has to battle a tough decision regarding Elis. He neglected to mention that their kind bond for life, and bonding occurs through touching. So the more they touched, the more they were solidifying a bond that couldn't be undone, except through death. Raea has to decide whether or not she wants to continue the bonding process and attach herself to Elis forever, or if she wants to put the relationship on hold permanently. I did enjoy this part of the romantic sub-plot as well.

But by far, the best part was not knowing what was going to happen next while she was running from the bad guys.

I cant get enough of these books. It makes you want to learn more about Rhea and Elis. It isn't enough. I can't wait for the next book.

If you liked the first book you'll love this one too! Broken wings helps you understand Rhea even more, and what she goes through in her life, fitting in, not feeling like a freak...it made me feel like it's ok being me as well.

Thank you Melanie Nilles.

I only gave four stars because the author jumped around with the characters too much, if she kept to Elis and Raea"s pov only, I would of been okay with it. Other then disliking the enemy pov being told the book was interesting and she really gave us insight into Raea's homeworld and how Raea coped with being kidnapped and rescued and realized her feelings for Elis, although I felt like she backtracked a little when she returned to earth.

Well,I was a little let down,I thought it was going to be the characters from the first book, by the way it ended, It doesn't. It got better, as the story unfolded. The main characters were not that strong except in the end, I thought. Either way, its not a bad book to read.

I am a hard person to please and although the books and series are not perfect in every aspect, I felt compelled to give it 5 stars. The premise, worlds the author creates, and characters were imaginative and well written. I had not trouble envisioning foreign lands and nefarious enemies. I was so emotionally invested that I had to see the series through, angry when I thought some key people were dead or when friends proved to be enemies, happy in the end, you get the gist. I recommend this series and author.

Raea is kidnapped by the Shirukan and finds herself being rescued by a bunch of misfits on Inar `Ahben. She races to get away from the Shirukan and makes her way to the only person who can successfully send her safely home back to Elis. The pace of the story is initially excellent and draws you right into the story. Unfortunately half way through the book, I kind of got bored because there was no immediate threat and so if felt more like a group of friends on their way to a picnic than someone running away from danger. The cut scenes to those chasing her were in my opinion unnecessary and detracted from the story rather than add to it. The cut scenes to Elis longing for Raea and thinking her dead, was a little to melodramatic for me. Elis came across as a wimp in this book, and not the strong savior as he had in book 1. Overall though a good clean and fun book, but a little lacking in excitement.

Incredible! A sequel that is even more exciting than the first book! Since I finished the book long before bedtime I needed to read more by Melanie Nilles. So I started When Angels Cry. That one started exciting so I had to fly through about half the book before finding a good place to stop and sleep. This morning I bought number three in the series.

I will admit that there are formatting issues that are confusing. I don't know how I would have fixed them myself. There needs to be some way to differentiate between straight quote and a quote in another language, and those that are thoughts of this person or the other. Even still the story is unique and like I said before, exciting.

I have read this entire series and loved it. I couldn't get enough. The characters are interesting and to think of it as an alien planet that started Atlantis was cool. Will be re-reading this series probably very soon.
