I was offered a free early reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Since Jasper Scott is one of my two favorite authors I'm currently following, I immediately agreed. Jasper is one of a very few authors where I will put aside a book I'm already reading in order to immediately begin reading their book.
One of the many things I like about this author is how natural he makes his fantastic Science feel. Many other Sci-Fi authors shove their science on you and depend on that for their attempt to present an impressive book. With Scott, I find the quality of his stories to be the dominant feature of his impressive books.
I try very hard in my reviews to avoid attempting a summary of the story, the authors provide this and do a superior job of it than any reviewer. I trust the following will not be a spoiler for anyone but, I've been amazed how often my beliefs of who the "Good" and "Bad" Guys were and then subsequently find there were many more "good and bad" guys. Yet, upon finishing, and finally having that revealed, to realize it was there all along.
The final thing I have to say is, I need to grow up, come into the real world and stop hoping for "...and they all lived Happily ever after" endings. Oh, don't get me wrong, this series ends well but, while one of the Bad Guys does repent of his behavior on a Death Bed, it is still a Death Bed!
Review by, THE HEARTY ONE
Broken Worlds #3, Civil War is the culmination of the series, and will show readers what a man and, the child he saved from incurable cancer through extraordinary measures, do with the time a quirk of fate hands them. How does Darius cope with the highest calling and taking the fate of the known universe in his own hands? Will 'god' status make of him a saving grace to rule with noble justice and a notion that all species have rights and deserve the corresponding legitimization of their natures and kind, or do the trappings of the office furnish the seeds of his downfall and make him as brutal and immoral as the order he replaced? Will all that he does make a safe and nurturing place for his beloved daughter? These are all questions that will be answered in this final book in the series through Scott's masterful storytelling and writing skills. Certainly a book you will find impossible to put down, so start it on a Friday!
