- Enter your model number to make sure this fits.
- LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY: you only need to buy one of our products, and we will guarantee to service your feeder for free for the rest of your life. You can call us any time you need a new part, or if you have any issues with your feeder. The cost of your membership is the price of the feeder you buy!
- GUARANTEED SQUIRREL PROOF: supported by an impressive list of patents, our feeders are recognized as the leaders in the squirrel proof category. The weight of an adult squirrel automatically closes the seed ports, denying access to the seed but not harming the squirrels in any way. Also effective on large birds.
- FREE CARDINAL RING: Northern Cardinals are ground eaters. Since they prefer to face their food, we designed a special ring where they can sit and eat comfortably.
- CHEW PROOF: all feeder parts exposed to squirrels are made of chew proof metals or RoxResinTM, a remarkable 100% chew proof, waterproof, rustproof and UV stabilized material.
- NO TOOLS REQUIRED: our feeders are designed to be dismantled by hand into individual components without the use of tools. This allows for easy cleaning and filling.
- SEED VENTILATION SYSTEM: Transparent seed tubes trap solar energy, and conventional seed tube designs block the escape of the heated air. Our patented Seed Ventilation System permits humidity and hot air to escape through the vents at the top of the feeder and replaces it with fresh air. Bird food remains fresher, attracting more wild birds.
- WEIGHT ADJUSTABLE: the patented adjustable spring mechanism controls how much weight the metal mesh shroud will support, allowing the birds to feed. Any additional weight will activate the closing mechanism.

How It works?
Openings in the bottom section of the feeder (shroud) align with seed ports, providing birds access to the seed. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing the seed ports. Squirrels and large birds are foiled but not harmed in any way.
The Closing Mechanism
Use the feeder with the factory setting before making any adjustments. A small red squirrel, 4 oz./115g, will trigger the closing mechanism at this setting.
To increase the adjustment setting, rotate the transparent cartridge clockwise. The red line will move down from the previous setting. This increases the weight required to close access to the seed.
To decrease the adjustment setting, turn the cartridge counter clockwise. The red line will move up from the previous setting. This decreases the weight required to close access to the seed.

Where to Locate your Plus
You can locate this bird feeder anywhere and be squirrel free. Position it to get great close-up views of your favorite birds. Hang your Squirrel Buster Plus over a window, in a tree, on a deck, a fence, in your garden, on the side of your house, from a rain trough or over sliding doors. Use brackets, extension hooks and tree hooks to hang your feeder at the recommended clearance. Hooks and brackets are available at birding stores, garden centers and hardware supply stores.
Need for Clearance
Remember it’s a squirrel’s weight that triggers the closing mechanism. If a squirrel can reach over from a nearby foothold and avoid placing his weight on the feeder, he can access the birdseed. To overcome this problem, allow for at least 18 in./47 cm of clearance around the feeder. This will force the squirrel to climb onto the feeder and trigger the closing mechanism.
Taking apart your Plus
Squirrel Buster Plus components are designed to be assembled and dismantled easily by hand, without tools, and to fit into your dishwasher.

I have both bird feeders and I love them both. I've had the Yankees flipper for 6 years now, it is still working and I only had to change the battery once. About the same price as this Brome feeder. My husband and I wanted another squirrel proof bird feeder to hang on our oak tree. This is when I stumbled upon this bird feeder and due to all the great reviews I decided to give it a try. Both bird feeders work great, and these are the ONLY squirrel proof bird feeders on the market that actually do work, so here are the differences:
The Brome does not require a rechargeable battery, the Yankees does.
The Brome is not as entertaining to watch the squirrels as the squirrels cannot get to the holes where the seeds are. The Yankees allows the squirrel to get there just so it can flip them and throw them off the feeder, thus an entertainment to humans. I'm not mean to squirrels, I do feed them cracked corn, but it is funny to watch them spin a few times and get thrown from the bird feeder. They do manage to get seeds thrown on the ground due to the flip action, and some brave squirrels actually will flip several times just so they can get some seeds, but they do give up after a while.
The Brome has 6 holes, the Yankees has 4. The part I do not like about having 6 holes is that 2 are in the back where I can't see the birds which represents 33% of the holes while the Yankees has 4 of which only 1 is in the back which represents 25% of the holes. So you get to see more of the bird with the Yankee. The Brome has a dome shape which protects the seeds from getting wet from the rain, the Yankee does not, but the seeds don't get very wet.
Bigger birds such as pigeons got to eat sideways with the Brome as the dome is in their way. I like all birds so my setting is set to allow all size birds but not the weight of the squirrel. With the Yankee there is nothing to set, it will allow 1 pigeon, but 2 are too heavy. All in all, both these bird feeders are awesome, and worth the money. I only had the Brome for 2 days and the Yankee for 6 years and still going, so hopefully the Brome will last as long. It is well built so I expect it to. You won't be sorry buying either one, just read the differences and decide which one is better for you.
I have come under attack.
When I left the house one of the bird feeders was on the ground.
a few minutes ago I reviewed the nest cam and a huge raccoon attacked it and knocked it to the ground.
The feeder was unscathed.
I have two of these hanging roughly 6 feet apart. They normally require refilling around every 5 days.
One day we noticed one was being depleted at a much faster rate. One feeder was requiring refilling nearly every other day while the other remained full.
About a week later the feeders remained full for days. The birds stopped visiting.
I figured it would be a good time to clean both feeders.
After disassembly, I learned why the birds stopped feeding. The holes where the seed drops through became clogged with seeds. All the holes were cleaned out as well as drilling larger holes prevent future clogging.
The sparrows, chickadees, woodpeckers and blue jays have returned and the seed levels are now dropping at an alarming rate.
I am going through 3-4 inches of food a day. It's like Logan airport with all the air traffic.
Squirrels - still trying to figure it out.
A second one is being considered/\.
Squirrels and black birds, I hate them.
Having spent the money on this feeder I couldn't help but notice the seed level hadn't changed in days.
Small birds were no where to be found. One day I noticed the feed level dropped. My wife mentioned the little birds seemed to have found their food.
The big birds and squirrels get nothing, Sorry!
They have their own feeders.
The feeder works as described . I think the tension mechanism could be better designed .
Overall I am pleased with the purchase.
The only downsides to this feeder is that it's really long and sits lower below my window sill than my last feeder; also, 3 quarts of feed is a lot! It's actually a pro and a con. Because 3 quarts of feed is also really heavy and can be challenge to re-hook the feeder on the support bar after its filled.
