From the start, Brooklyn tests her limits with her Sir, a Dom she only knows online but has never met. Then there is the man she works with who she fantasises about, but who doesn't appear interested.
Add to the sexual chemistry a whole lot of mystery, you have yourself a winner of a story.
She has no experience or knowledge of the BDSM world until one day she accidently clicks on the wrong link at her computer. Curiosity leads to discovery and experimentation, yet she’s too shy to meet the one who slowly consumes her entire world.
This was a great short read. I loved the characters. The mystery man was well thought out, inventive, and exceptional. Brooklyn stayed true to character and I enjoyed her journey, which had plenty of twists and suspense to keep me reading into the night.
This was a five-star read.
Those were my first thoughts when I finished reading Brooklyn Blues. I absolutely adore the naughty side of R.E. Hargrave's work and this piece of work does not leave one unsatisfied! It would seem like it should be hard to live up to the masterpiece that is The Divine Trilogy but oh no, R.E. Hargrave does it time and again. I'm pretty sure my naughty heart would break into a million pieces if she were to ever quit writing!
Brooklyn Blues is one of those novels that just keeps you on your toes. I was NEVER sure what Brooklyn and Sir were going to do next and I LOVED that. I've read a lot of BDSM, erotica, romance and the like but I love when a book still surprises me. This one had that element. Each character was fun and fulfilling and going on Brooklyn's ride of self discovery was totally worth every sweaty moment.
Brooklyn Crenshaw is the perfect employee. She’s punctual and loyal, but finds her life in lacking in the sex department. While searching online for alternative lifestyles, she connects, under her cleverly conceived screen name bluebunny with the intriguing WillUBelong2Me. There is an immediate connection; online sparks fly and Brooklyn ventures into the BDSM lifestyle. The more contact she has with her Sir, the more she wishes to please him. WillUBelong2Me realizes this woman has captured his heart, so he starts slow. He treats her like royalty, but this is online…sex on the Internet – no personal introduction, while under the guises of anonymity. It’s mutually beneficial and Brooklyn can’t wait to open her computer each day to see what Sir has in store for her.
With the Holiday season approaching, and the office Christmas party soon to take place, everyone in the office is excited. Barbara, the typical office manager prods Brooklyn to commit to bringing a date, but Brooklyn procrastinates. She doesn’t have a ‘plus one’ to bring. She’s in a relationship, but it’s online. She’s never met her Sir. Does she even wish to? What is Sir like in real life? Sir has opened her life to new and exciting things. She’s pleasured beyond her expectations. Every day brings a new challenge. Gifts begin arriving at the office for her with explicit notes and she wonders just who has sent them. She’s never met WillUBelong2Me, so it can’t be him. She hasn’t given him any personal details about her life, where she works or where she lives.
Aside from her online Sir, there is one secret crush she’s had on an office employee, William K. Baxter, but he would never notice her. Johnson, another employee seems to fancy her, but all Brooklyn can think about is her newfound Dom, who brings out her wildest fantasies.
The night of the office party is an eye opener (or black eye)…I’m not spilling details because that would spoil things.
Suffice it to say that Brooklyn Blues is an original story, full of kink and suspense. I loved the characters, and in the end I loved how this story ended. I had my hunches, but the author kept throwing darts, pointing me in another direction until the end when I had the AH.HA moment. Very well done, and I think the screen name of the year HAS to be WillUBelong2Me. Totally fits the character. So does Brooklyn get to finally met her Sir? Does he show up at the office Christmas party? All I’m saying is Merry Kink-Mas!
Brooklyn's life takes an interesting turn after accidentally finding herself on an erotica website. The words and pictures get her mind to turning and she finds herself curious to know more and explore how it all makes her feel. In this exploration, she forms an online attachment to a dominant, which later turns into something more with phone calls and texts.
In between discovering things about herself through talks with this anonymous "Sir" she met online, Brooklyn is still crushing on a co-worker and begins receiving mysterious secret santa gifts. As she grows closer to her Sir, Brooklyn starts to wonder about meeting him, and then she gets hints that her secret santa will be at work party, as well as her work crush. With the possibility of three men arriving at the same party, Brooklyn isn't sure how to handle it all, and then she discovers something shocking, they are one in the same.
William Baxter had been intrigued with Brooklyn since she started at work, and he had a pull towards her, but not wanting to push her too far, he instead laid a trail, hoping she'd pick up the clues and piece together who he was; finally deciding to unveil himself at the party.
I really enjoyed how this whole story came together, Brooklyn's growing desire, her caution at meeting a man, no matter how personal they've gotten, and how she's shocked when she realizes how it all worked together. Brooklyn Blues was a quick, easy, but hot read. I really liked how though parts of it were easily guessable, there were still a few surprises in store.
