Unfortunately one of the downsides we sometimes experience with K-cups is that many of them lack the full, rich flavor of a traditionally brewed beverage. I was pleased, therefore, to try this sampler pack of Brooklyn Bean Roastery’s cocoas and found them to be not only more flavorful than expected, but each having its own unique personality. They provided the samples – I provided the review. Here then is what I experienced with each of the 6 flavors in their cocoa variety pack.
CAMPFIRE COCOA - there is no mistaking the aroma of a cup of hot chocolate in a battered tin cup with floating morsels of marshmallows in it. It's part of the legend and lore of sitting around the campfire telling ghost stories. This blend captures that moment with unmistakable perfection, not only in its aroma but in its rich satisfying taste. The marshmallow flavor is surprisingly authentic. A hot cup of Campfire Cocoa was a good choice for simply sitting in the back yard watching the stars.
CARNIVAL COCOA: Begins with aromas I’ve experienced in the spice markets of the Far East, not so much immediately reminiscent of chocolate but perhaps a touch of anise and salty caramel. The taste is assuredly not ordinary. This is a slow sipping cocoa that pared well with crisp fresh apple slices.
MIDNIGHT COCOA: There was a time I hosted a late night radio program. At the stroke of twelve I would invite my Royal Order of the Night People listeners into the witching hour with a deep sultry blend of eclectic jazz and romantic standards.Read more ›
Swiss Miss tasted awful & watery. I can't recall what Grove Square tasted like, but I never ordered it again, so it must not have impressed me. As a matter of fact, based on the two brands I tried (Swiss Miss & Grove Square), I had pretty much decided that I would never buy or drink K Cup cocoa again...and I didn't...
until... I was given an opportunity to sample the Brooklyn Bean Roastery Hot Cocoa Variety Pack. I decided to give it a try and hoped for the best.
And to my surprise...Brooklyn Bean's cocoa is really, really, good! There are 6 flavors in their variety pack, and each flavor is good. Of course I have a couple favorites, Midnight & Mexican, but I like all 6 flavors.
Each cocoa K Cup...

I used anywhere from 8 to 10 oz. of water with these K Cups and the flavor wasn't watered down. That's impressive...at least it is to me.
Each of the 6 blends is rich with cocoa flavor. I think Midnight has the richest cocoa flavor & Peanut Butter Cup had the least cocoa flavor, but all of them are good & none of them have a weak, watery flavor.
The Six Flavors:
Midnight...Rich, creamy, chocolatey flavor
Campfire...Toasted Marshmallow & Milk Chocolate
Carnival...Salted Caramel & Creamy Chocolate

Now, I must confess, I hate peanut butter. So, the one remaining flavor is a mystery to me. Peanut butter cup. I threw it in the office cocoa stash and it did receive high praise from the person who stole all of them. He reported they were like "a Reese cup I can drink" and then made off with them at the speed of light. So, safe to say, if you like PB, this one will probably work for you as well.

The flavors are done well and have great taste. However, about 50% of the time the drink is flavorless due to the fact that the powder flavoring stays in the cup and I need to dig... Read morePublished 1 month ago by Chad D. Veldhouse
