I have had this machine since September 2012. I've been sewing for 50 years, many of those professionally, and have used many brands of sewing machines over the years. However, this is my first embroidery machine. Since I purchased it I've learned many things, too many to list in this review, but I feel compelled to address the few negative reviews. First and foremost , Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew is a wonderful company to deal with. When I received my package, every thing was correct except I mistakenly received 2 - 5x7 hoops, 2 - 4x4 hoops and 1 - 5x12 hoop in addition to the sock and cap hoop. I immediately called to let them know and they said KEEP THEM!! During the first couple of months of use I called them numerous times when I had questions and their customer service was always top notch! Next, you MUST read the manual front to back before you really start to use the machine. I assumed because I had sewn for so long it would be the same....it is not! That being said, you will find things along the way that you won't find in the manual. The best thing you can do is utilize YouTube, there are tons of excellent videos on there that will address even the smallest issue you might encounter. Also there are many good groups and forums that you should join right away. There are 2 groups on Facebook (PE770 Machine Embroidery and Brother PE Embroidery) that will be a great help, there are many experienced people on there they have a wealth of knowledge.

What I see from reading the negative reviews is that there seems to be a lot of mis-information, people are not trying to find answers for themselves (beyond the manual) and this is doing a great disservice to an excellent starter embroidery machine.Read more ›

I had been checking out several machines. This was a big purchase and I wanted to make sure that this machine was what I wanted for my embroidery needs. I did read all the reviews and searched the internet for information on the Brother PE770. Priced several machines and found the best price on this machine at Amazon.com.
The machine shipped and I got it a few days later took it out of the box checked out the instructions and started embroidering with in the hour. I truly love it and would recommend it to any one with out or with sewing experience. This is is now my second Brother machine. Good Company with good products.

Basically, I purchased the Brother PE770 without knowing ANYTHING about embroidery machines. I purchased the machine and the "Grand Slam Package", thinking that it had everything I needed in order to get started, from Mr Vac & Mrs Sew on Amazon. I absolutely LOVE the Brother PE770!!! I still haven't read the instruction book (As Mrs Sew will attest to, because I emailed her when my stitching was pulled too tightly to the back and only showed the bobbin thread on top. She replied very quickly, "...the bobbin is inserted counter-clockwise", and voila, problem solved!) The Brother PE770 uses hoops 5x7 and smaller, though it can use the larger, 3-stage hoop, for making multiple designs without re-hooping. The machine runs smoothly and without fault. There are many designs already on the machine, though I have downloaded additional designs from the CDs included in the Grand Slam package as well as from embroidery sites. I load these designs onto a flash-drive and the Brother PE770 reads the flash-drive easily. The threads offered by Mr. Vac & Mrs. Sew are all vibrant, beautiful colors. I have done a LOT of embroidery since purchasing the machine last month, and I still have not found a need to purchase additional colors. Gotta go... much more to embroider!!

I purchased this item for the grand slam bonus packages however the additional items are not worth the money the scissors are CHEAP! The additional hoop for socks is CHEAP the pins do not fit in the holes of the frame (Update) the Vendor contacted me and told me to use a hammer for those pins guess what that didn't work either! Basically you cannot squeeze a watermelon into a pin hole for a pea! The stabilizer is not very good either it shreds and causes lint into the machine causing additional problems. I will be tossing these items in the trash! The thread is also CHEAP and keeps shredding inside of the machine which makes it extra hard considering you are trying to embroider or applique! I will be tossing all of the thread out also! I have gone through my machine manual several times to try to figure out what has caused these problems and still have not found a solution to the situation. I am know reading many forums on different causes and hopefully then I will be able to resolve the issue since Brother cannot and they told me to use different thread. I must say my little 4x4 frame in the LB6800 is far better than this machine or package. I bought that one about 5 months ago and then purchased this one so I had a bigger hoop.. All I ended up with was bigger frustrations!

I will avoid this company in the future. I have not looked at the embroidery designs yet.. but so far everything else has been very disappointing in this package save the 300.00 and just get the machine itself. (Updated) I have looked over the extensive design patterns that came with this I have not tried to stitch any of them out yet though because I am too frustrated with the other problems I continue to have with this machine.
