This clear plastic foot raises and lowers with the needle to allow fabric to be moved between stitches and to hold fabric in place while stitches are created. Screw on clear plastic foot has markings for easy reference. Requires Low Shank Adapter for ULT/PC series.Also known as a Darning Foot and may be used as a free motion foot.

I'm a beginner sewist and had to look up videos on YouTube on how to attach this to my machine, but after I figured it out and got to practicing, it did the job! It fit perfectly on my Brother GX37, was easy to glide the fabric under, did not squeak or make any other concerning noise like my sewing buddy warned may happen with a cheaper/not-from-a-real-sewing-store darning foot, and the clear part made it super easy to see where I was going with my stitches. So glad I got it to finish my first quilt!

Check your guide - not fit for some machines

Check your manual for the correct free motion foot before purchasing. I have a Brother SE400 and my manual explicitly says not to use the SA129 for free motion quilting because it might damage the needle threader. No comment on the quality of the foot because I haven't used it.

I could go on, but the main point is that while it is fairly 'clear', the shank of this foot just gets in the way of a sight line. I purchased an Open Toe foot that does the job perfectly! I didn't know, before purchasing my expensive Brother machine, that a Low Shank machine is just not optimal for Free Motion Quilting. If you have one, make it easier by purchasing an open toe foot that allows for more of a sight line.

I don't normally write reviews. I purchased this product in July and I have not been very happy with it. I questioned the company upon receiving it of the authenticity. I don't believe the item I received was a true brother product, but the company assures me it is. The product looks different then pictured item and did not come in brother packaging. It squeals so loud I have a hard time using it. It rubs so much the metal piece is grinding away some of the plastic and making plastic dust. It is hard to see with the closed in plastic foot. Please spend the extra and get the open toe. Wish I did.

I checked with the seller why the foot was not in its clamshell package but in a clear plastic bag instead. I was doubtful that it’s a Brother product but seller said they bought them in bulk to get the discount from Brother and to pass on the savings to customers. Makes sense that the product is more than 50% cheaper here that from other places. Anyways, I started using it and works well so far. It’s a good backup to my other Brother free motion foot. Hopefully, this product lasts or holds well.

Works great on my Janome

I have a Janome 3022, and, seeing that the generic brands of quilting feet were supposed to fit both Brother and Janome machines, I took a small risk in ordering this one since it is significantly less expensive. It worked perfectly, exactly as it was designed to, right out of the package, though I did choose to modify it to eliminate the hopping action and to turn it into an open foot. What I did to modify it should work for anyone who wants to change this foot into an open-toe, non-hopping foot. I clipped the front of the clear plastic foot open with wire cutters (used the red lines as a guide and cut open at an angle from them) and then sanded it with a nail file. To eliminate the hopping, I then bent the wire that is at the top of the the foot back so it would no longer tap against the screw that caused it to hop, and wrapped a rubber band right below the wire at the top to adjust the foot so it would just skim the fabric. Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase and glad I bought the cheapest foot available. I actually think, looking at pictures of the generic foot, that this was made by the same manufacturer, despite coming in a brand-name label.

I wish it wasn't plastic, and I really wish it came with directions on how to install it on your machine. I had to look up a YouTube video to figure out how to attach it. I'm a beginning seamstress and am just starting to play with quilting, and for how inexpensive this is, it did the job well. I was able to free-motion quilt a small doll quilt for my kids in no time. I hope the plastic holds up, but I guess at this price point, if it doesn't, it's replaceable easily enough. I can't speak to how it will hold up on a larger project, though. I'll try that in a few months after some more practice.
