    I bought the Canon LBP600D or something like that, and it was awful. No mac drivers (we have a mix in our house). Come on Canon, it's 2014, not 2002, every device should work on Mac, Windows, and even iOS and Android! Get with the times. Anyway, I tried to install that and it didn't work on my PC. I went to install it like every other printer I've ever used by plugging it into power and my PC.. wrong! You're supposed to install the software first. Couldn't ever get it to work, and this is coming from someone who used to setup technology solutions small offices such as printers, servers, networks etc. If I couldn't figure that out, then how can the regular non-tech person?Anyway, onto this printer. The Brother HL-L2340DW setup was a breeze. As easier as you could hope for, really. I placed it on the desk, pulled all the shipping tabs out, and protector pieces, installed the toner cartridge very quickly, then READ the instructions where it says to plug the USB into your computer (unlike the stupid Canon). I plugged it in, Windows immediately said "got it dude, you're good to go". Did a successful test print and moved on to downloading the driver software to setup the wireless. (I don't care to use the CD's hardware come with unless absolutely necessary as the driver on the site is much more likely to be updated). I downloaded the software at http://www.brother-usa.com/support/ModelInfo.aspx?R3ModelID=HLL2340DW#.VF0y6fldXch and installed it using the Wireless method (you have to be plugged in so you can easily setup WiFi on it via your computer, this option in the install is just telling the installation how you plan to use it so it can take the next steps accordingly). I setup the wireless, did a test print from my Macbook, success. Opened up my iPhone and went to the print option on a picture, and there it was, the Brother HL-L2340DW. Selected it, pressed print, and out came the print in absolutely perfect quality.This was a very, very, easy to install wireless printer. I highly recommend it based on it's seamless install and print quality alone. If you search you can find replacement cartridges for $17 that offer up to 2600 full page prints. Not bad. The only complain I have is the built in power cable. Most devices will use the standard 3 prong power cable like you find in the back of a typical PC desktop computer. This one is permenantly attached, not making it easy to buy a longer one if necessary. I have about 4 inches of slack after setting it up, thankfully, but not everyone else will be so lucky.My main purpose for this printer was wireless, random printing of documents. However, I bought it for my girlfriend as she's in her grad program and needs to print about 10-50 pages a day and she was waiting in line at school every morning for 30 minutes to use their printer. I believe, in my experience, that a black and white laser printer is the best way to go for any student looking to print a ton of essays, articles, documents etc. You are paying a bit more initially for the printer, but between the volume of prints it is capable of yielding on a single toner cartridge and the efficiency, it'll more than pay for itself! Think about it, up to 2600 prints for $50 (if you choose to buy the main brand toner replacement, or go ahead and buy the knock off brand for $17 and save money, or heck, look up on youtube "how to refill toner for Brother HL-L2340 printer" and you're sure to see some great tutorials and save even more money!) or you can go out and buy a $30 inkjet printer that gets 200-300 prints per cartridge, but how often do you end up replacing that cartridge? About 5x-10x more than a laser printer. Ink cartridges are about $35 for a complete pack. Multiply that by 5 (how many of those you'd go through to achieve the print volume of one toner cartridge for a laser printer) and that's about $175 depending on the inkjet/cartridges. Suddenly you're in the hole, and the laser printer may still have some life left in it's toner.It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. We have no plans for photos on this, that's what our simple all-in-one is for. Periodic use, never in volume.Leave comments and I'll answer any questions you might have. Good luck!Summary: I love it, it works great, it was easy to setup, and the design is very modern and incredibly compact!

    I LOVE IT! I have purchased and used many different printers over many years of personal computing. This is my first Brother printer and my first Laser Printer. The printer was extremely easy to set up get running on my wireless network. I have used this new printer for about one month now and since the very first test page, this printer has worked perfectly. I was surprised at how much faster it is than any of the name brand ink jet printers I have used that cost almost twice as much. Best of all, it works well with inexpensive toners. There are no continuous hassle with ink cartridges, chips, and intrusive manufacturers software gimmicks that seem to always do more to prevent the printer from working than getting the job done. I am greatly relieved to distance myself from insanely expensive, short-lived, ink cartridges that always seem to need maintenance.
    conejos

    I still have my ink jet all-in-one that I use for scanning, FAXing, copying, and an occasional color print out. If I had it to do over again I would buy one just like this one but with the built-in scanner. This way I could avoid the ink jet except when color is absolutely required.

    Even my spouse, who is technically challenged, has had no trouble at all getting the prints she wants without having to go through three or
    four trouble shooting steps to get there. The two-sided print feature works with full size or booklet output without a hitch and did I mention that it is very fast.

    I admit one months experience does not demonstrate long-term reliability but, at this point, I heartily recommend this inexpensive laser printer for anyone who primarily wants fast, low cost, flexible, black printed copies within a few seconds after hitting the print button.
    I will update this in about a year or so and comment on longer-term reliability.

    Follow up Comments;
    I still love this printer. I have owned it a less than a year but long enough to be impressed with the way it continues to provide excellent service with a minimum of hassle.
    There are only two inconveniences that I have encountered worthy of mentioning.
    (1) This printer does not handle card stock well at all. I have been unable to satisfactorily print odd sized greeting cards on card stock.
    (2) I have not discovered how to cancel a print job once it starts printing. I can pull out the paper tray and it will stop printing but printing resumes when the tray in reinserted. The ON/OFF switch does not work midway through a printing process. The only way I have found to cancel a print process is to unplug the printer.
    I still recommend this printer and I would buy it again, even if the cost had not come down a lot.

    Additional Follow up Comments;
    After 1 1/4 years of use, I am still impressed with the reliability and consistent quality performance provided y this printer.

    J'ai malencontreusement mis hors service ma vieille Brother HL 2030 en posant des livres sur l'imprimante, en les oubliant et en envoyant un tas de documents à imprimer ...Bref, celle-ci la remplace, est hi-fi et fonctionne parfaitement en impression via AirPlay pour mes macs ainsi que 2 ipads . Je me suis un peu mélangé les pinceaux au début en pensant que cette imprimante pouvait être à la fois branché en USB et fonctionner en WiFi, ce qui n'est pas le cas, c'est l'un ou l'autre . Elle est plus légère que l'ancien modèle, plus compacte aussi . J'ai choisi ce modèle non pas pour le recto/verso mais pour le tiroir qui met les feuilles A4 à l'abri de la poussière . Je n'ai pas essayé mais, d'après la documentation , elle s'éteint seule mais il faut appuyer sur le bouton d'alimentation pour la mettre en route alors que le vieux modèle se mettait en route seul à l'impulsion de l'envoi du document à imprimer .

    La Brother HL-L2340DW cumple ese papel: es una impresora sencilla, que da una calidad de impresión más que decente, que imprime a doble cara, que es fácil de instalar y que funciona con WiFi. Este último punto -la WiFi- es muy interesante porque uno no siempre tiene hueco para colocar la impresora al lado del sitio donde tiene el ordenador... o, ahora que la movilidad es esencial, ni siquiera tiene un sitio especial para el "ordenador" porque es un portátil o una tablet o incluso un teléfono. Y esta impresora funciona con PCs con Windows, Macs, iPhones, iPads, y Android. Con Linux no he probado pero, por lo que leo, también funciona sin problema.

    Muy recomendable.

    Tutto perfetto, riesco a stamparci da tutte le macchine di casa. L'installazione sotto windows è più difficile rispetto a OSX che riconosce subito la stampante. L'unica pecca, se si può dire, e che potevano aggiungere una porta ethernet o usb, la prima accensione può non essere così facile. Per il resto brother è una garanzia di qualità ed è facile trovare i toner di qualità a prezzi decenti.
