We purchased this unit from Costco for office use. We are using about 3000 pages per month and this unit has performed without problem. The speed and quality is decent. Unlike a HP all-in-one N2727MF we've tried, the Brother MFC fax function is very good and without communication error. Some minor complains is that there is no page remaining count on the status display or the web access page. For paper handling, we had very few paper jam so far. The toner usage is actually higher than rated so you may need to do the "toner window mask" trick to get more toner usage.

I bought this printer from Staples 4 months ago. I am very satisfied with its speed and quality. I use it in my home office, so it's a little chunky but that's about the only complaint I have. As an AIO, it has all the functions you will need , the only thing lacking is scan to email. But since at home I can configure this printer how I like, I scan it primarily to a network external drive. And that's much easier to save my receipt, doc, PO and stuff. My office has those huge printers that takes up a space of a small bedroom, but it performs similar to this baby.
Pro:
speed, quality, toner save, low cost-per-page, cheap compatible toner/drum, easy toner refill, easy setup, auto-duplex, high scanner resolution(color).
Con:
no scan to email.

Very nice machine. I gave it one star because I've had repeated problems with replacement Brother original drum and (to a lesser extent) toner. I've purchased 2 drum units at around $150-180 each, both original Brother items, that didn't work out of the box. Brother wouldn't give a replacement (not even a refund, just a replacement unit that actually worked) either time. Plus the high yield 7000 page replacement toner cartridge (TN-580) does not give 7000 pages in my experience. Call Brother customer service/support and they are zero help. Essentially they tell you that the lifetime of both drum and toner is 6 months (6 months for 25,000 page drum unit) and they only support them for the first 3 months from date of purchase (not from date when you first started to use them).

update Fall 2013
I finally wrote to Brother headquarter in both USA and in Japan about the problem with the drums. They USA HQ actually responded. They were helpful and eventually I received a replacement drum (plus a complimentary toner cartridge), so full marks to them for that. So overall I would give the MFC 8570-DN 5 stars, Brother customer service 0 stars, and Brother HQ 3 stars (good for responding to me, bad for letting regular customer service be so useless)

I purchased this printer and understood that it was "New" but instead I received a Refurbished unit. But since I got a fairly good price on it, my wife told me to set it up. As with all Brother MFC printers, the scanning and printing are quite (not quiet) noisy but the network flexibility keeps bringing me back to Brother. I have this printer hooked up to a wireless router, and viola, it prints from anywhere in the office. Envelops are always crinkled when printing (Brother common problem) but the scanning to PDF and the ability to scan both sides of a document are outstanding.

During setup, set the router to an IP address outside the range of the DHCP host on the router. In simple English, DHCP servers are commonly built into wireless routers (for wi-fi access) and this usually causes printing problems later if the router keeps re-assigning the printers IP address. So, set the range on the router for 50 or 100 IP addresses (or less) and then set the IP address on the printer somewhere outside this range, i.e., if the range for the router is between 192.168.0.101 and 192.168.0.150, set the printer to a number before or after this range, i.e., 192.168.0.90 or 192.168.0.160 using the printer keypad in "LAN settings" and force the printer to use a "STATIC" IP address (the one that you enter in above). You'll never have a network printing problem after that.

Overall, it's a 5 star printer.
