This all-in-one does a lot -- prints, scans, and sends and receives faxes. It prints in color as well as black. It works in a wireless network. That's about all I can say that's positive about it. Mine is extremely finicky. I cannot trust that it will do two things. It may do the first thing, but there will be a problem with the second thing, and there will probably be no error message to tell me what it wants.

Tip: If you clear a paper jam and it still claims there is paper jammed in the back hatch, power off and on. If there is no jam, this will get rid of the error message.

The paper tray included with this printer only holds about a half-inch stack of paper. Why? There is room for a taller paper tray, and it would be extremely helpful if it held at least an inch of paper, if not more. Also, I have ruined half my supply of envelopes by not inserting the envelopes properly in the paper tray. Again, you have to insert a half inch of envelopes. Just one won't work.

However, I'm keeping it, because it seems in the printer market right now (2014), there are only two kinds of printers -- the affordable ones, which are crappy, and the really expensive ones, which presumably work better.

I gave this all-in-one two stars because it does a lot when it's working.

I bought this printer because I have been very impressed with the Brother printer I used for nearly a decade (MFC-8440). This printer worked great for about 5 months. The replacement ink cartridges were extremely affordable. The print quality is terrific. Brother makes great products. This unfortunately isn't one of them, which is probably why it is no longer offered. At 5 months the wireless capability discontinued, the scanner locked up and seized the whole printer while making a horrible grinding noise. The trouble shooting guide is not very helpful as it merely states, "Mechanical problem". You can buy most Brother products with confidence, just not this one.
