I haven’t sewn much since I was in high school so I was nervous about using it for the first time. The book was easy to follow and I was able to mount the embroidery parts in a few minutes. I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to follow how to thread the upper spool, but then I noticed the steps were marked on the machine...lol... The self threading option is awesome! It took me a couple of tries to understand how it worked, but then it was smooth sailing! I made one of the preprogrammed designs today. It turned out so good I wished I hadn’t put it on a spare bandana. It was the first thing I made using the machine.
The thread my bundle came with is *really* nice and there are so many colors. I also like the already threaded bobbins so I could get started right away.
I found a free trial for a program called SewArt it’s much more user friendly than the Brother software (I work in software engineering and had a hard time with it). I’m likely going to buy a license for SewArt and will try my own custom designs with its generated PES files.
This is a great machine to start with for a home-based personalization business before graduating to something more commercial (that’s why I bought it). The butterfly took about 10 minutes, but is gorgeous. The pic doesn’t do it justice. I might purchase another one for my mom (who helps me with the business) because it was so easy to startup.
BTW, don’t remove the plug for the foot pedal or it will shut off (amateaur mistake on my part), but it did just continue once I plugged it back in.
Granted I just received this machine yesterday, I already love it. I was able to unpack, setup, and start a quick test project within an hour. I had one snarl with the thread, but figured out it was my fault because the thread wrapped behind the keeper and I didn't notice quick enough. The test bit came out beautifully and my daughter is already asking what else can make. Excited to do more things.
Took less than a day to start embroidering (I’m a manual reader). I have a small embroidery business I run out of my home. I’ve been using a 15 year old Husquvarna and decided to upgrade. Man am I glad I did! I tested on pre loaded designs then started working on my own. The ease of reading from a memory stick, instead of a proprietary card has made my life so much easier! The pre wound bobbins in this package are a great added bonus. Please note, you will need to change the bobbin casing, which is provided, in order to use them. The instructions in the manual made this quite easy. It was a big investment for me. But after just a week, it was worth it!
I haven't used this very long but it appears to be EXACTLY what I wanted. I only have one complaint but that's only because I have an upgraded one of these machines also. I miss the automatic pressure foot button that's on my 4000D but I will adjust, just wish the lift was in the front!
I'm not a beginner sewer so I had no problem getting up to speed on this machine - and I love it. It's an affordable embroidery machine with the benefit of easily switching to a great general sewing machine.
