This is categorized as a beginner model at Walmart so I picked one up for myself for the purpose of getting more mileage out of my old favorite threads. I'm a 56 year old guy who's never used a sewing machine before and I'm so glad I chose this one. The instructional DVD packed with this machine is top notch! Thanks to the great DVD I was up and running in no time and I sewed a button back on a pair of my favorite pants within minutes after threading the machine. I used to sew buttons back on and repair torn clothes by hand - and WOW! What a difference this thing makes! It makes sewing so quick and easy! I love it! I can't say enough about how great the DVD is. The narrator speaks VERY clearly and just does an outstanding job. The picture quality is great. I highly recommend this machine especially for beginners like myself. The machine seems well built and sounds solid when it runs. Everything about it is user friendly. I'm totally satisfied.

I wanted a small machine to take to classes. It is a bit bigger than I expected but very light. The construction is not as good as it can be, but if you take good care of it, it should last a long time. It is very easy to use and run.
I have been sewing for 40 years and I have to say this is the easiest machine to run I have ever used.
I have had the machine for about a week and have made a apron for my grand-daughter, a lap quilt for my mother (the edges were a little thick and the machine didn't like it but did fine. Not recemmended), and put blanket binding around a blanket for my Dad. So far the little machine is moving along just fine. I would recemmend the machine for basic sewing and light quilting.

I bought this because I wanted to start sewing. I don't even know how to put a zipper in, do inter facings, etc but wanted to start learning. I did grow up with my mothers 1950's green singer machine so I did know how to do the bobbin and thread on hers ( for a hem or something like that) BUT I knew I would have to read instructions on how to do even that simple thing when I opened this. I finally took it out of the box after it sat there for over 2 months ! (I was afraid to attempt it as I did not want to find out I could not understand even how to thread it, become frustrated and then feel like a failure so I had just put it off - it's good when you self analyze - ANYWAY, I did get it threaded and did get the bobbin done!. I think it helped that I had used my mothers even though this was completely different. I then started on the dress -ha-ha- I had cut out from the pattern I purchased for my size 2 older daughter. I knew she would never wear it. My 2 children are STUNNED, along with me. The dress is almost complete. I have only used this machine with the regular stitch setting so far but I really love it. Foot pedal cord could be a little longer. So far it is running smooth and has not jammed or anything like that. I was skeptical as this was " refurbished" with a warrenty but all was well. I do like the light that is automatic when machine is turned on that is directed towards needle area although i have another light I also have to use. So far -so good. I would recommend this machine for not only a beginner like me but for anyone who does basic dressmaking, etc. There are so many types of stitch options and automatic button hole this and that. Lots of settings and options.

The DVD is awesome! I am very pleased. I know nothing about sewing but wanted to learn how to do the basics. I highly recommend this product for beginners. It's perfect, light, not huge like the others and LOVE the LED light, cause threading the needle was the hardest part for me...my eyes (HA!).

Great Machine. I have never sewn anything and wanted to get this hem my work pants. Within an hour of opening the box I had hemmed my pants. Everything is working great and it is a great investment. Thanks

It's definitely lighter than my other machine, and it's very easy to use, but I was expecting this to be a smaller, portable machine.
