When I ordered this product I was fully expecting to get a flimsy metal bottle opener that just happened to be in the shape of the Enterprise. I was so pleased when I got it to see that it was thick, heavy and could hold its own against the best bar sets you can buy. Its classy, sleek, and sexy, just like the Enterprise. Or Captain Kirk. I bet he would've used it to pop open some bottles of romulan ale in order to get some hot alien babe in bed. It really is that good.

I bought this bottle opener for my 21st birthday, and I've been using it ever since. Although not the most portable bottle opener, it is perfect for my coffee table to pop open a beer when I'm relaxing at home. It is a quality product that looks good and feels good in my hand. It is very solid, enough so that even the drunkest of trekkies won't be able to harm it. I also like saving the bottle cap each time I try a new beer, and this particular bottle opener removes the cap without bending or damaging the cap significantly and does so with great ease.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. I assumed it would be silver and did not open the package before giving it to him. We were both surprised to see the GOLD bottle opener when he opened the package. I can't find seller information to contact them about the mistake. It's a shame.. it is good quality and a very original bottle opener.

UPDATE: I was able to exchange the gold bottle opener for a silver one. The whole exchange took less than a week. My husband is much happier with this.

UPDATE 9-14-2014: After reading many other reviews, it appears there are some knock-offs being sold here. Be sure to get the one that is sold and shipped by Amazon! It comes in a nice package box and is exactly what is shown in the pictures. I just ordered and received another one for the game room, and at $19.21, it is well worth it.

This was my flagship bottle opener for a long time. It looks and feels high quality -- it's got some weight behind it and has a surprisingly natural feel in your hand. The molded foam it comes encased in is also a nice touch. I liked it so much that I gifted one to another Trek-loving friend, who was also impressed by it.

Sadly, I had to decommission it after 2-3 years. Though there was no visible wear, the teeth had worn down to the point where it wasn't gripping bottle caps anymore and just didn't function as it should. I didn't think it was possible to love a bottle opener, but I loved this one and was sad when it died on me. If the design was tweaked slightly to prevent this problem, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

I bought it more as a gag gift because I thought it was just really funny, but he always uses it to open his bottles and shows it off whenever his friends come over. I'm guessing he really likes it. I was very surprised at how heavy it was! This would be an AWESOME gift for any Trekkie!

This is categorized under Toys & Games in Amazon, but I would NOT recommend getting this as a TOY for a child. It's really heavy and hard! Your child could get hurt or hurt someone else. This is not a toy. It's a bottle opener!

NOTE: I bought mine recently on July 12, 2014, and it was shipped and sold by Amazon. Maybe there were problems before since some people have mentioned that it was fake, but mine looks exactly like the one pictured on Amazon. The inscription is the same as the one shown in the picture.
