All the scans, whether they are from printed covers or original art look to be excellent- clear, sharp, well resolved with excellent color.
Unfortunately the paper the book is printed on is a very porous, pulpy stock (I think it's the same paper used across all the CreateSpace publications, whether they are text based or like this, 95% illustrations). This presents a disappointingly inferior surface for retaining truly sharp, high definition images.
I would hope that, since the book's illustrated content and editorial material are already locked down, that someday a publisher like Illustrated Press, IDW, or maybe even Dark Horse- can come along and publish this material in a proper fashion, in Hardcover and a more appropriate heavy weight plate finish paper stock which will allow Minney's impressive and extremely entertaining work to truly shine. Compared to the paper that even something like Illustration Magazine is printed on, this is a very weak alternative.
What's here is a fair trade for the money, but I would rather have much rather have paid $50 for a more permanent, higher quality publication than $22 for a generously illustrated but rather amateurish looking softcover.
looks like someone with a decent but still crappy scanner, scanned the actual images and compiled it into
a book. The images are very low resolution. Its not worth 40 dollars, save your money. If you want to see his
work just search for it on pinterest, or google images. But DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY.
