this tool replaces numerous home made hair excavating tools. it is made just for this purpose, down the small drain opening, down to the clog and scoops (twists) the stuff right up. but, you must have a throwaway towel or rag handy as it scrapes everything it touches in the drain and the bristles bring it all up. you can run the water over the clogged up bristles, once you get the main clog off the end of the long rod. but, be forewarned, it can be messy as it comes up from its deep explorations. hold your breath, too. it is a great product. yes, it does fit down the small openings after you unscrew the top of the drain stopper. it is small enough and has lots of bristles for catching just about everything down that dark hole. yrmv
I AM SO GLAD I DID! I had two sinks that were just not draining properly and chemical cleaners like drain-o (and baking soda + vinegar)didn't do a thing. This brush, which essentially looks like a really sturdy pipe cleaner about a foot long with a handle, immediately brought up the gunk that was the problem in the first try. It took maybe 10 minutes to clear both drains completely and to clean off the brush to save for future use.
I recommend this brush 100%
That's what this is for.
Wiggle it down your sink, twirl it, and, if you're lucky, you can remove a glob of hair the size of a small rodent.
This brush works exactly as advertised. I have used it for cleaning around other tight places, too, such as behind the faucets and in that area between the handle mechanism and faucet body in the kitchen.
